if jones got us to the play off final again

Tue Dec 28, 2010 11:00 pm

Are there any people on here who could not face it again.

As much as i love this club i dont think i could put myself through the heartbreak of the coach trip home if he messed up again.
The etuhu instead of ross decision still haunts me and i have no confidence in jones ability to get the tactics right and get us over the finishing line.
I have seen us relegated many times in my 46 years watching the city but nothing left me feeling as empty as the play off final defeat.
I guess having watched most of my football in the lower leagues i am haunted by the fact that that was our one and only chance to reach the promised land and he not we blew it.
Anyone else get those same feelings ?

I will go through it but I doubt I will have much confidence in me if Jones is at the helm.

I got 32 years under my belt and I feel the same. My old man went to his first game in 1952 and could not face it. If we got there again under Jones I would not go.

I know exactly what you mean Steve. Dont think id make that trip again, i never want to go through that sickening feeling for a second time. Especially taking the lead twice against a team whos average attendance for the season was 6000. It really felt like it was our time. If we dont go up automatic its going to be a tv jobber for me this time, that is if we still even manage to stay in a play off position given our current form.
But deep down i think we will turn it around theres too much quality in our team not to make it into the automatic position.

i dont think i could have that dissapointment thrust on me again, i really cant see how we could ever win a play off final :x

I'm not sure Ross coming on would have made a difference, we took the lead with Etuhu on and still blew it, but all that is if's and buts.

Typical Cardiff, at least they give you an hour (half time plus 2nd half) heads up that it's not your day.

Three years in a row Portsmouth, Sheff Wed and Blackpool all progressively worse, I said when I got home that i'd not do it again, it hurt too much, i've wained slightly since then but not much, still have thoughts about how happy I was when Chopra scored and though this was it, then the feeling of what came after.

I think i'd go, I don't support Cardiff because I expect success, I want success like anyone, but I don't just expect it. If I wanted the easy road with the smiles, i'd go support Man U with the other type of Welsh Football fan, who moan because "all we (laughable use of the word we) managed this year was a league cup and a Champions league semi-final" or support Liverpool and moan that "it's all down hill from here we're doomed" ignoring that 90% of football fans would kill to win the Champions league once in their life time and just be happy with that. So i'd go because moments like what happened when we beat Barnsley, or QPR they mean more than any TV watching fan could ever know. Geeze that was a bit too philosophical, even for me.

I said on the drive home last time that I would not go to the play-off final again, no one believed me, but my thoughts still haven't changed.

My plan is to sit on the beach in Ogmore and wait about three hours before returning home and watching the recording. I will then know that any stress the game throws at me is misplaced as the result is already done and dusted.

My daughter now has a little click of her own City footy fans now and she says that although it had her in tears last time, she wants to go again. She may persuade me to drive a mini bus but I will sit in the car park.

i for one loved our playoff trip to Wembley, we lost which was dissapointing on the day, but the fact is, that's how it works, one team looses, it was great entertainment, which is what football is about at the end of the day,
yesterday i was dissapointed at watford but in the scheme of things it's no big deal, my family are all alive and well this Christmas unlike some familys which have been on our Televisions this week........i would love another trip to wembley.

Cardiff City FC......don't take it too seriously.

Witch!!! Burn him!!! :D

You're right though. I'd go for the banter! Supporting Cardiff is all about the pain, heartache and failure. Nothing's changed to 20 years ago. Same shit, different division! :D

agreed - dont think i could take another play off, dont think it will come to it to be honest, we will either go up automatically or fall out of the top 6 altogether..... :ayatollah:

Steve would we even get to the final this time if we were in the playoffs, We got lucky against Leicester in the 2nd leg last year.

If we got to wembley again i am not sure if i could sit through the experience again, Normally make a weekend of it too.

No, I wouldnt go.

We wouldnt win it as its a big game, might watch it on tv but couldnt do all that again :(

Dear me! God help us if the players feel the same way as the fans!

I feel quite lucky that I have been to Wembley 3 times in last couple of years! You dont get Wembley because you are a failure, its a venue to contest the two best sides of a particular competition. Our recent hard luck would only make the next success all the more sweeter and those who did not go would be kicking themselves.

I'd definatley go and enjoy it. Its just all part of being a City fan. I find a better hotel this time though. Stayed in kensington for the playoff final and shoreditch for the Cup final and was not really impressed with either. Think next time I'll get a hotel right in the thick of it like Convent Garden or Piccadilly.

not with the current defence because its virtually the same one that got taken apart by leicester and blackpool with the exception that the left back position has got weaker.

It would be hard to take Steve. I certainly won't be optimistic if we reached the play off final as last year left me heartbroken, if I am not so confident in the future then I won't care as much if we fail.

I would have to go still because i've been waiting for this for 35 years now and as much pain as there was last year, i couldn't miss it just in case of a miracle that he was able to win it would be the best day of my life and would be even more hurt if i wasnt there to see it maybe i'm a glutton for punishment

i will be there for sure and whats more if a guaranteed play off final place was offered now considering our current form i would snatch their hand off.So come on lads support the boys and make some positive NOISE :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My uncle said he wouldnt' go next time -but thats cos he's got a dodgy heart and thought it was going to pack in when we scored !

As to the rest of you - man up and grow a pair.

Football involves winners and losers, we all know that by now. If you cant handle the pain of losing then you will never experience the ecstacy of winning.

If you had the chance to sleep with Kylie, but were too drunk the first time and she gave you a second crack would you say no becasue you were too scared you wouldnt perform the 2nd time

20-30 years of heartache (even more for some) and we are getting closer. Get there. get behind the side and cheer them to promotion. :ayatollah: - then cry all the way home.

It would be interesting to know if all those who understandably couldn't face going again, would change their minds if DJ left the club before May 2011?

Personally I would go if we got there again because as much as last year hurt, I still remember how good it was when we won in 2003 and I wouldn't want to miss that, no way.

Exactly and that came after the horrific Stoke defeat the year before.

Every game is a new one. History is irrelevent.
