JANUARY SIGNINGS

Mon Dec 27, 2010 8:54 pm

I cannot see any signings in January being loan deals.

We already have 5 loan players and a maximum of 5 loan players can be named in the matchday squad and our 'cheapest' loan player is costing us £10k pw approx therefore I believe that any signings will be permanent.

Surely Vincent Tan will not want a minimum of £10k pw sitting in the stands every week.

be intresting to see what kinda wages he would pay for perm signings as you say can we afford to have ten grand a week players on the bench................. there few there now nearly hitting that wage who don't play every week lol

Thank god for that, but if someone special such as Woodgate became available then do you think we would go for it?
I think that we need to sign players on permanent deals not loans because even though loans improve the squad in the short term, DJ would have to sign about 9 players this summer again to make a big enough and good enough squad but if we sign 5 quality players this January then the job is the summer becomes less and then we can concentrate on tactics and the like during the summer with the whole squad :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Any guesses Carl.

probably somethign along the lines of Shittu, Howard, Vaughan + one who might cost us a bit - Hammill maybe if Burke goes, or more likely a suprise ?

Bothroyd to stay, Mathews maybe to leave, couple of squad players to go. (Rae, wildig (loan), etc..)

Not just on the bench Rob, if any cam in on loan then they would not make the matchday squad.

In my opinion Jones will keep whats current apart from those who wish to leave, send out the young players like Wildig and Meades out on loan and bring in a left back, target man striker and another centre half and that will conclude his business.

Is there a chance we could convert existing loans to permanents and then sign a couple more loans? I can't see Koumas staying unless we are tied in for the season.....

The difference being the starter of this thread asked a question for thought of reply, you stated the bleeding obvious.

Agreed carl, I reckon it will be free transfers or players coming to the end of their contracts this summer. We may sell a couple and loan a couple out as well I reckon
