TV set up help Please

I have a new Panasconic lcd tv.

It has a sky box thru a scart and a ps3 via hdmi port. When i turn on the TV it goes thru it usual first time set up but naturally cant find any freeview channels cos theres no aerial connected. I only use the sky box.

My problem is this, when i play the ps3, the tv just seesm to go into standby shutdown mode type thing. I suspect its because the TV hasnt had a button pressed for a while but ive gone into the settings and turned off all the power saving options etc.

Any other ideas why this might be happening - its really pissing me off

Had a similar problem with an LG TV.

Seemed to be a conflict between the TV being set to auto scan for the best quality set-up for the PS3, i.e. 1080p, yet my PS3 was set to not allow an auto scan and insist on a 720p picture. Don't know why.

It got sorted by pressing the on button on the PS3 and keeping the button pressed until you hear two beeps, this resets the video settings. Worked for me.
