FAW won't ban him
Fri Dec 24, 2010 12:35 pm
I can see 2 sides of the story, but I will back the Welsh FA on this.
I love watching Wales and would hate to see out national side vanish.
Can you ever imagine a Great Britain side?
Will the police give us a bubble game or will they be happy for us to drink in pubs with the english, scottish and Irish supporters and unite as one? Think this would be very interesting.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 12:35 pm
This is daft, the lad is one of the best left footed players in the world.. Who will be losing out in the long run? Does anyone understand the real reasons behind why the FAW don't want Bale and maybe Ramsey playing for GB? Because I haven't got a clue?

Bale is in the right, The Wales games are in OCTOBER when the Olympics are up. Maybe not even that because the leagues will have to be rescheduled due to the Olympics. Bale is just representing his country
Fri Dec 24, 2010 12:46 pm
I think the FAW will have to back down this, Bale is different class and surely the FAW should be promoting young Welsh players for team GB, the other sports have english Welsh Scots NI competing
Fri Dec 24, 2010 12:56 pm
Them scottish players were banned not so long ago then suddenly crept back on scene

It is surely different circumstances in that Wales couldn't have a team in the Olympics - therefore Welsh players have every right to play for a British team. FAW won't have a leg to stand on, and if they're not careful they will end up with a lower ranking than present by banning their best players.

Good luck to him the Welsh FA are gobsheens.... They've made Welsh football the laughing stock...and it wasn't me who smashed their window after Terry Yorath got the sack
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:01 pm
I back the FAW in what they are saying but losing Bale would be a killer.
Would Bale go through with it though? one tournement meaning no more international football??
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:08 pm
Bale 100%
He will call the FAW bluff. Like feck will they ban him. Even if they do the criticism from everyone in Football will make them change their mind
Go on Bale son
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:16 pm
This is just politics from WFA.
Think I'm write in saying that if there was to be a GB side then the WFA would lose their seat on the UEFA or FIFA hierarchy which they have had for donkey years or from the inception of the organisation, something they didn't have to work for and have no chance of ever securing again.
Totally support Bale in this and he has been open and honest.
He's quoted
“The Olympics would be a great opportunity for a young player like me to play in a major tournament. Look, I’m Welsh and we know Wales don’t tend to qualify for too many of the big occasions. I would like to play in the Olympics, especially as it would be as part of a Great Britain team. Of course, I always want Wales to be Wales. That is important and I wouldn’t want that to change, but if there’s a chance for me to play in a GB team that would be a great idea.”
Too many times we have seen genuinely world class Welsh players not have the opportunity to show their skills on the world stage. Giggs, Southall etc.
What a great advert for Welsh football to have one the most exciting players in the world at the moment in such a tournament, probably alongside with Ramsey. Are the WFA saying such experience isn't required by our players
WFA are pathetic
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:20 pm
100% back Bale, the FAW need to get in the real world!!!
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:30 pm
I back Bale. The FAW remind me of FIFA jobs for the boys.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 2:40 pm
i dont blame bale at all for wanting to play....... the chances of him ever playing in a big tournament are very slim, this might be his only chance...... best of luck to him i say
Fri Dec 24, 2010 3:11 pm
bale 100% still wouldnt support them though. im welsh not british
Fri Dec 24, 2010 3:40 pm
Just to turn this on it's head, but say Bale and Rambo do play for this GB team and this puts the wheels in motion that triggers the end of International football in the UK over the next few years - what would everyones thoughts be then? Aimed more at the followers of International football and not those who don;t give a f**k about Wales.
I'd be very upset if any of the Scottish players played for the Olympic team, and I'd be even more upset to learn that them doing so rubs FIFA up the wrong way, all hell breaks loose and there is no Scotland to follow(even though it'd be a blessing!) when my boy is growing up.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 3:50 pm
I think the FAW don't want Welsh players playing because it could jeopardise our rights to remain as an independent nation. That's the ridiculous stance from FIFA anyway. So I can see why they're doing it but it won't work. FIFA and the FAW are in the wrong. If we don't have an individual representative at the Olympics we either need to enter the Olympics as Wales are be allowed to submit participants under the GB name... which we have been doing for hundreds of years. FIFA need to shut the f**k up because they don't know what they're on about... ever.
I totally back Bale all the way on this. I'm not necessarily blaming the FAW though because I feel they've had their hand forced by FIFA.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 4:25 pm
Good on him, in my opinion the FAW are a bunch of assholes.
They should be taking the chance to showcase some of our talent on a bigger stage.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 4:32 pm
Not convinced GB could play for "UK" team without ut being sanctioned by FAW tbh !
Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:21 pm
If Bale knows he will be banned and he do still go ahead with it, then he is no better than a part time Welshman and them I hate ! I would stand toe to toe with anyone who try to take Wales from me ! As I did back in the 60s. To sell out your country is the lowest of the low in my book.

because a united GB team gives those who despise the power Ireland, Scotland, Wales have within FIFA ammunition to force through a GB football team.
if Bale seems unable to grasp that, well, clearly he's not the brightest.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 5:42 pm
The FAW are self -centred dinosaurs.
Bale should play For GB and if the FAW ban him, take them to court and screw them.
Fri Dec 24, 2010 6:31 pm
Bale - individual - wants to play in Olympics.
To benefit himself, no-one else.
Should it cause the FAW a lot of political hassle - worst case scenario, bye bye Wales - I wonder if people will still back Bale's decision...

Nigel Pepper The olypics is not like playing for a British all the time. Should all welsh athletes not turn up . The welsh fa a have allways been a holes , rather like the welsh rfu . But in rugby we play in the lions. I cannot see why we can't unite as 1 team every 4 years.

FIFA assurances?
Blatter gave the assurance that the Panorama program wouldn't affect England's WC bid

FIFA have said that taking part in the olympics would not mean that wales would lose their right to play as wales, but would you believe them?
