Steve Howard

Thu Dec 23, 2010 9:55 pm

Steven Howard has told his agent that he likes the set up at City and "can see himself playing for the club ", there is the come and get me plea, DJ was interested in the Summer but the stumbling block would be the length of contract, I understand that Howard wants a minimum of a 2 and a half year deal

Translation:

Steve Howard would rather live in Kabul than Leicester, has heard about the generous wages players are on at Cardiff and sees this as an opportunity to milk money from a club that would appear to bow to his demands.

I find it baffling that we would go for him to be honest. Impact player
yes. Battering ram type. but what if Jay is missing for two/three games?
Surely a Jason Roberts type is a better option. Or a good young hungry
lad?

Up against a big hard pacy Centre-Half Howard aint shit.

He's 35, one last decent contract in him eh? Why not Cardiff.. Jonesy just
loves these retirement funds for veterans!!

you saw the problems he caused us if we can get him on the cheap and pay him mainly bonuses we cannot lose. We should snap him up!

Why would we want a Leicester cast off. He's not even a hasbeen he's a never been. Surely we can do better than him.

I rate Howard and would be happy to see him here. And, if Jay goes next month, I wouldn't be unhappy about him stepping into Jay's shoes. Not as good as Jay, but the next best thing

Roberts is playing regularly for Blackburn and doing pretty well. so I cant see him coming.

There ARE alternatives though. Personally I wouldnt be disappointed with Howard, its better than the option we have now, but Millar, Best or maybe a cheeky bid for Kitson would be better long term.

Sorry he can only be Jay's cover. If jay goes we are fucked as there is nothing outside the premiership squads anywhere near as good as him.

Who do you reckon then? Like you say, there's nothing outside the Premiership unless we take a gamble on a young player from the lower leagues, and we all know Jones' record on that front. If we go for a Premiership player, even he is not going to be as good as Jay because a good Premiership player will cost a lot and a cheap Premiership player won't be worth having, either on loan or as a permanent transfer

Gavin Gordon caused us problems

I REST MY CASE

HOWARD IS A PENSIONER - WE DON'T WANT OR NEED HIM

Well its mainly based on jay being so key to us, he's not just goodin the air (although not in the same way as a Parkin or Howard), he is also very skilful and quick - extremely quick, IMHO he's faster than Chopra.

To replace him we'd need to be looking as a min imum at Leon best. Even then i dont think he could do it.

Sell Jay and I dont think we'll go up. Forget Bellamy, brilliant as he can be -Jay is our outstanding and most important player.

If Jones is looking for a big lump up front, I'd rather him try and get someone like Henderson or Parkin.

i will be gutted if we sign howard, got a feeling we will though, dave jones was talking yesterday of adding experience to the squad, read into that what you want, to me thats howard and shittu done deals, we should be looking for good young players, not has beens and never beens.

couldn't disagree more if we get these 2 players cheap it can only help they are both PROVEN championship players which is more than i can say about are defence recently. i have never rated hudson so i will be glad 2 see riggot fit aswell. Shittu would be a good signing if cheap. howard is what we need we jay is injured or not on fourm will keep him on his toes because he knows he is are KEY player and he may feel untouchable.
