our fan base has changed ten fold . in the heady days of the 80's you knew your neighbour unlike today
as fans we were a much stronger unit home and away in much smaller numbers back then
we're not alone but football then was very poor compared to today but we excepted what we were unlike today brought on by the media i may add
our local media are utter tripe compared to the 80's
dave jones is critically underated by the vast majority on here and yet the best thing that has ever happened to us in the modern game . what manager would have accomplished his achievements from the olden days
the biggest difference stems in the shape of perception from our fans now .
need i go on .............. ?

players have, but we need to change aswel,,,,,, take bothroyd for example, struggled most of his career, dj, guided him, got a england cap, now hes stalling on his contract,,, thinks hes the big i am, again to the normal supporter, you can see whats going to happen to jay, flat on his face, all about money, not ability these days

Agree entirely. Players have become the new rock gods & no longer connect with the fans. Years ago while on holiday i met up with David Speedie a Scottish international who at the time was playing for Liverpool, he said he was picked up by a scout from Barnsley who spotted hjm playing parks football at 17 & at the time he was working down the pit.He said he never forgot how lucky he was to be given a lifestyle that was worlds apart from the one he was leading & would go in for extra training to make sure he did'nt return to the slog of his pit days.A great guy who never forgot where he came from, unfortunately there are very few players these days that have ever worked & they;ve seemed to have lost the connection with the fans.

I was gutted when they first took the old wooden grange end down and half delighted when sam got a roof on the half that was left.
So, with the whole of ninian park gone it's hard to adjust. I feel like a starnger in the new thing
This new stadium with it's wanky stewards and fans that want to be entertained without supporting the team.
Whats CCS gonna be like with about 12k in it h? ppppffffftttttt1
it maybe our best position for decaades but ive seen more passion on FIFA xbox .
Can't see me going down the city for much longer, but I will always love em 2 bitz

Most walks of life change and Cardiff City is no different. As expected the old guard are the ones who struggle with the change. To survive though it needs to happen.
The biggest change I have noticed about Cardiff are the expectations of the fans these days. Well the last few years I should say. We have climbed from the dungeon league to the doorstep of the premier. Whilst in the lower division our greatest achievement was putting out a team so winning was not on the agenda. Today we expect to win and rightly so.
I cant really say I enjoy it today due to this we must win atttude. That why I'm keen on us getting to the premier as this attitude will change. There will be less expectation on us to win and when this is the case we will most likely get 3 points from a game when we should not, such is the law of nature. However we will go from 20,000 crwods to 30,000, corporate entertainment will be priority no 1 at the expense of the pie and pint guy and once again us old guard will go through another menapuase of supporting our club.
