A forum for all things Cardiff City
Tue Dec 21, 2010 2:19 pm
Going into the Christmas holidays Dave Jones has this week spoken of his admiration of all Cardiff City supporters following continued excellent support, especially during the last month in which results have been more difficult to come by.
"I would very much like to say that as always the supporters have been absolutely outstanding for us and a real asset to what we're trying to do," Dave said. "I understand fans frustrations, especially when making long trips to Middlesbrough to a disappointing outcome. But we all need to keep driving on and to maximise on all of the positives around the place, of which there are many.
"As far as we're concerned we just want to get out there and play and to get back to winning ways, which we'll look to do this weekend against Coventry City on Boxing Day. At the moment we know very well that the results haven't gone well for us, but again, with the bigger picture of the entire season in mind we're where we all wanted to be. Now we want to take it to the next level, which is something we'll need to do together as a club. Fans, players, staff, coaches - everyone connected to the club, we're all in this together."

Better late than ever nice of him to finally praise us

what some humility from the messiah, I suppose he is dammed if he does and dammed if he don't, the next 5 games excluding the F.A Cup will dictate the rest of the season.

He actually praises the support quite often in his programme notes. I don't think he despises us as much as people think!

DJ does praise the fans when questioned, always applauds them at the end of the game..
just because his personality doesnt suit some then he is given a bad ride and a lot of 'chines' whispers started about him.
hope he is given to the end of season

Well I Care About Both, AS PASSION and ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR SUPPORTERS MEANS A LOT TO ME

guess at the end of the day its down to opinion, which is what message boards are about
passion is a good thing, but is deployed in different ways,
just wish some of our team would show a bit more, instead of having opininons on who should have the best places in the changing rooms-

now is the time to get behind the players and dave jones because we have got the best team in this league so onwards and upwards

I watched Man City v Everon last night and at the end of the game the Everton players and Moyes went straight over to the fans. I wish Jones and the players would show some appreciation for our support as we all spend a lot of time and money following our club. After the Boro game only Craig Bellamy turned round and gave us a quick clap after we'd stood singing and freezing our bollocks off for 90 minutes.

The fans are the lifeblood of the club, more so than players , managers, directors or owners.
It's no big deal Jonesy praising loyal, passionate fans, it should be a normal practice for this to happen. Us the supporters will still be here when Jonesy, Bothroyd, VT, et al have all departed for pastures anew, we shouldn't have to call for the players to come over to us and applaud, it should be a matter of the players/manager doing what's right, we've applauded their good moves and plays on the pitch, we've chanted their names, the least we should expect is a little recognition of our support at the end of the game, not too much to ask is it? Or is it?!

Whether we support Jones or not ( I gave him the benefit of the doubt until recently ) I think we nearly all agree we should finish in the top two at least this season. With our attack we should have at least another 8-10 points now and going into Xmas confident and relaxed. Instead we are all anxious ( including the players ) and we need to get behind the team on boxing day and for the rest of the season. The trouble is, there is a feeling of all or nothing this season so lets pull together and we can make the promised land. ( been waiting 40 years now )

I believed that this would be our season and that we would win promotion now I'm left like many others hoping it will be our season. DJ is responsible for my loss of belief but there is litlle point going into his failings as a manager as we all know them and sadly we will see more examples before the season is out. IMO this statement is more about trying to keep the fans on board as if we don't win on Sunday things will start getting a bit ugly for DJ, most fans believe in the quality of our squad and if he doesn't get them performing quickly the fans will turn against him in increasing numbers.
Personally I don't give a toss about him and when he is gone, and there will be a time when he is, then I will celebrate because I will no longer have to witness his continual failings and worse than that listen to him disrespect Ninian Park.
http://www.oldgrounds.co.uk/ninian_park_cardiff.htmI loved the old ground and hate the fact that nearly 2 years after we left he still finds the need to disrespect it.
We all know the team will get our support because we love our players and our club DJ need not worry about that, will he get the ongoing support of the fans will very much depend on the run of results over Christmas and the New Year.

I don't think it matters whether he likes the fans or not. It isn't affecting our performances.

I think your wrong, he don't like us and it affects the atmosphere in the ground which affects the intensity at which the players play the game which depresses the crowd even more which affects the players - it's like a vicious circle. Only two ways to improve things - win on saturday despite a shitty atmosphere because it will not improve and every player + Dave Jones get your asses in the centre circle after the match and clap the fans or resign. Oh and one more thing Mr Jones stop leaning on the fecking dug out with yer arms folded and get on the edge of your technical area and wave your arms a bit and shout at the players and give us some ayotollahs - I don't give a feck if its raining snowing fecking sunshine or any other type of weather show some passion man and you will get it back from the fans 10 fold and maybe then the players will pull their fingers out too

The last time the fans got 'thanked' Ridsdale landed us with a £400 bill for season tickets 9 months early....So I'll hold my breath for now
