Boiler - Help

Mon Dec 20, 2010 5:49 pm

We have a British Gas 330 combi boiler (i think)

It suddenly started making a loud whirring noise, it won't switch off, theres a funny burning smell coming from it and we've been trying to get through to British Gas for 30 minutes and have had no luck yet

Anyone have any idea at all whats wrong with it or if theres anything we can do ?

Isolate it by the plug or fuse, could have frozen pipes which are making the pump burn out...

It is the condenser pipe I think. Sounds like it might be frozen, have a look and see if it is frozen. I'm not sure, but I think if it won't switch off then it is urgent so maybe phone transco or national grid. Hopefully someone else can help.

In the meantime, you can isolate the gas by turning the lever in the meter box which will stop the gas flow, and make your boiler turn itself off.

Condesate pipe is a good shout, but not sure about it being the pcb. If it was the electrics it probs would have cut off. If it is the condesate pipe you need to pull it out and get some warm water down it. Its an easy 'non dangerous job', you can do yourself. Let me know howyou get on...
