All starting to bunch up with Leeds and Norwich winning. Only consolation is they played QPR and Coventry who are also in the equation. Next few weeks will answer a few questions about our season.
1/ Do they have the fighting spirit to grind out results?
2/ Can the defence raise their standards and keep things tight at the back?
3/ Is the balance right in the side?
Just three examples, the answers to which are are resounding NO!!
1/ If we go a goal down in matches, we rarely fight back and win the game.
2/ Easy one to answer, the defence is not good enough. One example is that Adam Matthews should have been brought back into the side before now. As for Riggotts, do they know that the league season ends in May 2011. Will he be ready before then?
3/ Personally, I would play Bothroyd up fron with Chopra and have Bellamy on the left side of midfield. the rest of the midfield would be Oli, Drinkwater and Burke. I know I have left out Whittingham but with four in midfield someone had to miss out. Whittingham is useful at set plays but Burke is an out and out winger and would create more of a threat up front. He and Chopra would hopefully thrive on the flick-ons provided by Bothroyd.
The main factor as to our season is the January window. We need to strengthen the side. Who will he bring in, your'e guess is as good as mine
It is only just under half way through the season and so its game on.
Other title contenders.
QPR... Great start to the season but two losses in their last two games, are the cracks starting to appear?
LEEDS... Indifferent start to the season and were played off the park by the City at Elland Road. They are now playing well as a team and I expect them to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
JACKS...Like ourselves, started the season well but will they be able to hold on to Pratley in the January window? He is an integral part of their side. I think they will make the play-offs this season but will fall away from the top two( I hope

)
NORWICH... Class act. Even though we beat them 3-1 at our place, they impressed me a lot. They will be especially hard to beat at Carrow Road, where they tend not to lose that many games. Looking forward to going to this game on the 15th Jan.
COVENTRY.. Bit of a dark horse. They have sneaked under the radar in recent weeks, will they be able to maintain their good results. The jury is out on them.
BURNLEY... Another side on their day who never know when they are beaten.. Always tend to have a good team spirit in their camp. Won't be far away come May.
I could comment on one or two more sides. Due to the nature of the Championship, there is always a team that comes up on the outside and sneaks into the play offs.
As for our beloved City, just like Annis, my new year's resolution is to be more positive. Team strengthened in January, balance of the team improved. Team spirit lifted and City forge ahead from the pack. Come on City.
