I BELIEVE THE REASON WHY WE ALL MOAN MORE TODAY AS FANS THAN YEARS AGO

Are Because,
1. Years ago WE knew we were Shit/Crap end off.
2.The players were only on £200- £300 a Week and gave their All.
3.The players/Management were closer to Fans and had time for the Fans.
4.When We hear they are on £10,000 to £90,000 a week and they look like they cant be bothered or they are playing Crap, We Feel that when they are paid that amount, They Should play like Super Stars every week.
5. They dont stay long with any one Club, No loyalty like years ago.
6. Always hearing Gossip about Our So called Stars.

Just Giving My Opinion, I might be wrong.

Jason, I use to say it on the long journeys home, but when players like Carl Dale, Dwyer,Stant, Perry came RIGHT OVER TO US AT THE END OF GAMES, That would ease the pain a lot. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I'll take your point number 2 and point number 4 and combine them to give you the definitive reason in my opinion.

Got to be honest though Annis, if we lost back in the late 80's to late 90's then it'd attect my mood until the next game, I must've been a right miserable b*stard to live with but it was worth it because most of 1988, 1993 and 1999 were the greatest years of my life. Nowadays the feeling lasts for hours after the game. You grow up, have your own family and realise there are more important things in life.

Now my son's whole week is influenced by the result, he just doesn't realise how good he has had it. His first game (age 4) we beat Crewe 6-1, he's been to Wembley 3 times and we've always been doing at least okay at Championship level.

Loyalty.
I think this is the issue players and managers have no loyalty to the club they play for or manage as of years ago its all about MONEY which is a shame

1....maybe
2...gave their all....did they?...most of my cardiff supporting years were in lower divisions...or struggling near botton of second division
3..we could learn a lot from lower leagues/non league....and even rugby....make players mix with fans after the games....though i can guess why the don't
4...can't remember the question
5.... no-one else wants them.....
6....most of the "gossip" comes from you and carl

I think it's just the general Sam Hammam effect still echoing on. We were made to see what we deserve and what we should be aiming for. Until we hit those heights we will always feel we've not yet reached our potential, no matter who is playing for us or what money they are on.

Hammam introduced one major thing to us... expectation. This has stayed even after he left and is both good but also bad for the club.

Annis - I was thinking the same the other day! Years ago when I used to see our players out on the piss I'd think they were characters, now when I see Chopra out every week, off his skull, surrounded by hangers on, and surfing his greedy face I feel like giving him a clip round the ear! Especially when I've seen him out partying following his pitiful performances against Forest and Swansea!

Strange but I preferred the lower league days. A lot more fun, togetherness, low expectations but more fun and passion. Going to watch the City today is like going to the Theatre waiting to be enthralled. The passion is still there amongst the hardcore but sadly the new breed of fans expect instant success without actually contributing to it.

How I wish we could transport Eddie Mays times back to the CCS today. :D :ayatollah:

The mid 80s were bloody awful and i wouldnt want to go back to it however there are some great memories.

Games like Plymouth (4-1 down to win 5-4) spring to mind along with Giant Killing FA Cup victories over the likes of Brentford.

One of my good memories was the 85-86 (i think) home game v Wigan where we hadnt won at home all season. it was October or November and we were in freefall from 2nd div to 4th under Durban and my dad and i had a season ticket in the Centre Grandstand not far from back of directors box. We were utter shite and every week we'd turn up more in hope than expectation. Crowds were down to 2000.

Going back to the Wigan game we won 3-1 in front of barely 2000. Robbie Turner scored his first ever league goal- i still see his header going in at the Grange End and the mass celebrations of the players as the diehards leaped around. The sheer joy at the final whistle as the whole ground clapped a rare victory still lives with me today.

Anyway less of the nostalga and Burnley on Saturday. :ayatollah:

I feel the same, and most of my life has been overpaid footballers with no care for the fans

I have to say, it must be really bad for those of you who were there before my time. All I can say is at least you got to see the beauty of football in it's prime :ayatollah:

I do agree that it was better supporting Cardiff in the Stant, Pikey, dale, days aswell as other eras. It is frustrating on times tho knowing how much money they are on these days and that some of them play like dickwads on times !!! We pay alot more admission price than those days and for the money you pay know you expect them to give it their all. Im not really sure that gos on behind the scenes but i just wish some of them played with a little more passion. For example when we play in the derbys like this season in fairness to the Jacks it seems like they want it more than us. Look at when they beat us as much as i cant stand that Bent tw*t Tate at least he went over to those gypos and applauded etc If this post makes sense.

Either way ill always support the Mighty Bluebirds whether its the premiership or the Conferance because there will always be blue like you wont believe in my blood !! why would anybody else support englishg clubs like man utd city chelski liverpool etc when we where born in wales. There is only one team in wales and thats Cardiff City Football Club :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: I BELIEVE THE REASON WE ALL MOAN MORE TODAY AS FANS THAN YRS

expectancy !
The squad we are told is the strongest our manager has had - we have a player who is now an England international, the Welsh captain, other players who have performed in the premiership unlike past days when we had a mix of local lads and decent players like the Bennett brothers - oh to have Gary Bennett leading the back 4 :ayatollah:
