To be fair given the fact they got hit on Two fronts and the Axis powers had been massing their armoury for years they did put more of a fight than some other european nations. The Germans actually lost quite substantial numbers in the attack and Hitler himself was taken back by their losses. In the North the Poles resisted particulary heroically.
