Personally i dont think he should start until he has had 2 or 3 reserve games-his match fitness will be poor and if he starts off bad he will struggle. Sadly he doesnt have the luxury of reserve games thanks to DJs refusal to have a reserve side.
I'd like to see a back 4 of Matthews Blake Hudson and McNaughton on saturday with Riggott given 20 minutes at the end.

Gareth, I am hearing there is a good chance Riggott and Chops could both Start, But in My opinion both should of been playing Reserve games (IF WE HAD A RESERVE TEAM) as Both Now are No where Near Fit Thanks to DJ.

Well he's gonna drop Gyepes cos he has slated him enough recently. He's too stubborn to drop Hudson or Naylor. Mcnaughton is a shoe-in so it will be either Riggot or Blake in for Gyepes. He will probably hang his hat on Riggot and that decision may jump up and bite him on the arse. Myself? I'd get rid of Jones before the weekend if I had the choice

Start him even if he's unfit - still miles better than Hudson and Gyepes

Playing Chris Riggott in his first competitive match for almost a year, with
only one meaningless friendly MONTHS ago to warm up is madness. But then
again, so is playing Gypes and Hudson. If Dopey is going to gamble, then he
may as well go the whole hog and play Darcy and Riggott!!
I tell you what though, if he DID play the two of them, win lose or draw i would
not complain. At least it will mean he knows he's been wrong!

These are the same people who thought Feeney was a championship player.
Come on .Don't start ripping him apart before he gets a game.

Nobody is ripping him apart, just stating that things have not gone great for him so far.

Listen, Ive heard great things about Riggotts play, But was WARNED HE IS VERY INJURY PRONE, DJ Knew this and Apparently Riggott has Struggled, BUT IF WE HAD A RESERVE TEAM, PLAYERS LIKE RIGGOTT/DRINKWATERS and MANY OTHERS WOULD be a lot Sharper/Fitter ect.

I still cannot fathom the thinking behind not having a reserve team.

In my opinion would be a gamble to play him but Jones gambles every time he pairs Hudson and Gypes anyway.
Our defence in general is woeful at the best of times. There's the route of many a problem in this latest rut.

Just remember Robbie Fowler looked good in training.

Well it is pointless people including me going on about a reserve team - we don't have one, are not in a reserve league so do not have that facility to play the players coming back from injury or those who have been out of the starting line up so the only way we will find out about Rigott is by playing him and if the management think he is ready then let's get him in and hope it goes well for him and the team.
We have got to start keeping clean sheets as 1 in 12 is not good enough.Ironically that was against Leeds and since that game look at the form of both teams who would have believed that after watching that game!

Firstly, to those touting Matthews as a right back I really don't think he is a right back. Just like Glen Johnson isn't a right back. He's a right midfielder... right wing back at their most defensive. Matthews and Naylor would both be fine in a 3-5-2 but not a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.
As for Riggott, I'd rather see Blake and Hudson at the back but maybe we need to try this gamble? I'd rather see a back four of McNaughton at left back, Blake at right back with Riggott and Hudson in the middle. If that doesn't work, at least we tried it. In this bad vein of form now is the time to try new things.

Not ripping him-he is clearly a player with talent. His lack of match fitness caused by our lack of reserve team is of real concern.

The more I think how bad our defence is, and how many games we have before we can get a new centre back, I'm more inclined towards starting Riggotoni. Really think festive period will be a disaster if we keep the same pairing.
That is of course if Riggot is anywhere near being fit to play.
