i prob take some flack for this topic but i really think between new supporters and gethin and his mate have killed it, i am diabaled guy who loved the grange end i used to be like number 1 crowd surfer haha got nocked about loads and prob got hurt alot of the times but loved it the pump you get with all songs etc, now i think tension of it all has killed it, it sad but a fact. and now probably the players and jones vs fans is cuz of that

It was often dead at Ninian... can't blame the new stadium or new fans for that...

In the 70s I use ot stand in front of the crowd in the Grangend. It was a no go area for me as I was only little at the time. Those images I have of them all getting behind the team I can honestly say I have never seen repeated.

I hear about some stadiums having a "standing area" for those who want to sing. Its sounds a bit articifical to me but thinking about it then its better than nothing.

Have the new fans cost us our atmosphere? A bit harsh I would say to blame them as they have never experienced what I did in the 70s.

When clubs move to new stadiums their is always a transition period where fans re-organise themselves around the ground into consistent blocks of like minded supporters, this can take a couple of seasons. At the moment in the CCS we have a stand off between 3 parties, these being our 'vocal' supporters, the 'prawn sandwich brigade' and the stadium management and its down to who will move first.
Will the stadium management give in and allow 'free standing areas' next to the away end i.e block 117 and 118 in the ninian stand which will please the 'vocal' supporters, this will also force the 'prawn sandwich brigade' out of these areas or join in.
Will the 'vocal' supporters give in and move to the canton stand which is what the stadium management and the prawn sandwich brigade want.
Or finally will the prawn sandwich brigade give up the battle to keep the vocal supporters quiet and move to other parts of the ground.
Untill this stand-off is resolved the atmosphere will suffer, but when it finally is resolved im sure the atmosphere we know and love will return.

All we need is a proper singing/standing section in block 117, then the atmosphere will be a huge step up from what it is now

totally agree

I wonder is there anyway we could do a survey of sorts with people currently sitting in 117, to see who would be in favour of being involved in a standing and singing section there?

There is a definite issue with people from the entrance down to the front row, with both people and stewards enforcing (or tryign to) the sit down policy. From the entrance up, more people seem willing to stand up, and stewards do not enforce rule as much. Am I right in saying this?

If so, why is there such a divide in one single block?

SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, I WANT TO STAND AND SUPPORT MY TEAM WITHOUT BEING THREATENED WITH EJECTION FROM THE GROUND

(Sorry, but this issue makes me very angry)

I may get in trouble for this but in my opinion if you want a standing section in 117 without reprisale from the club make the jobs of stewards impossible (and i dont mean aggresively), dont listen to them keep out of the yellow areas on the stairs to keep them clear but stand united. It wont be easy and it will take time but at some point the club will give in, as long as you stand united, and Cardiff City Supporters can be the first club in the country that could stand up and say 'we as supporters are the important people at this club, and without us you would be nothing'

lets go back to 7000 fans, without new fans the club will die. ninian park was quiet a lot of the time apart from the big games and derby with the jacks if thats the case lets check season tickets and who ever had the last 2 years ban them you are stuck in the dark ages man :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The whole standing issue is a load of bollocks.

Nash and Jenkins can quote Football Safety rule 13b paragraph blah blah blah
til the sun comes out their arses but its OBVIOUSLY a load of bullshit. Else why
are the Club saying its 'safe' to stand behing the Canton end.

The ONLY way to defeat this is the way Man Utd fans did in the Stretford End, they
stood up as one, ignored the bolshy stewards and eventually the message got through.

I know this cos my mate was one of the major protagonists. But a word of warning...
He had his season ticket taken off him for a season.

So... if a protest is to be made, proper goals need to be set. and all those who 'sign up'
for the protest should also be happy to do a 'one out - all out' type thing. First time
hundreds stand en masse, if the Stewards throw ONE fan out.... how many would be
prepared to walk straight out with him, or stand outside the ground the following week
til he's allowed back in?

Gethin Jenkins knows f**k ALL about football crowds. Standing OR sitting now there is
no trouble. How many arrests during the last season in Ninian Park?? next to none is my
guess. His idea of atmosphere is a good old throaty roar when the home side is attacking
and sporadic chants of sospan fach.... Football is not like that. When a team is losing 3-0
you dont see fans pointing laughing and waving when the camera is on them, we take the
game more seriously.

But talking and moaning and posting on here (which, of course I'm doing too  )will get
us nowhere. Direct action is the only way the Club will listen.

Before the CCS i bet most of these new fans watched football from there armchairs supporting there Man ures Liverpool's ETC and they are trying to dictate to hardcore City fans what we can and what we cant do.
Agreed we as fans have to put our next move forward but we are so divided that wont happen for a long time. I hate sitting and i hate a lack of atmosphere but we need to get our identity back. I hate Jones for constantly feeding "we as supporters are nothing" to the players which doesn't help the bond between players and fans which also spreads" well i cant be bothered to back them" syndrome.

Me and my girlfriend, who posts on here, have tried to do this to an extent. Unfortunately, people around us seem to have begun to side with the stewards. I was also threatened with having my season ticket rescinded at the last match for not sitting down, even though all the rows behind were still standing. All I'm trying to do is stand and get an atmosphere going so the team can win, it's not like we're all being selfish by doing it. In fact, we're doing them a favour. Starting to feel unwelcome in my own ground, and by fellow supporters.

We definitely need to make it impossible for them - they can't take everyones ticket off them.
