FAW TICKETING STATEMENT
Euro 2012 Group G Qualifying Match WALES v ENGLAND
Saturday 26th March 2011 Kick Off 3pm Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
The Wales Supporters Club is still open and fans are welcome to sign up. Membership forms can be downloaded from the FAW website at
www.faw.org.uk/ticket-information/membership.
Red Membership is free of charge and despite previously not been given any priority on tickets, these members are eligible to purchase one ticket each for this match.
Gold and Silver members of the Wales Supporters Club will be given the opportunity to purchase up to five tickets, although they must provide details of every person they are buying a ticket for. Members will be responsible for everyone in their party and the FAW will terminate the membership of anyone who passes tickets on to away fans.
The FAW has taken the decision to sell tickets for the above match to members only, in order to maximise the level of Welsh support in the Millennium Stadium and limit the number of home-end tickets being passed on to away fans.
Due to the increased security of the match, the FAW is not allowed to hold a general public sale, as we would normally do with other home matches. It is imperative we minimise the risk of having away fans in the home end and for this

My view Corky is simple. We manged to have three terrace areas at Ninian Park without any problems. The two home terraces were sold out many a time. If Cardiff City could manage what was claimed to be the most unruly bunch of hooligans in British football then everyone can. They can't have it both ways, either Cardiff fans were nutters or they were not.
There was nothing wrong with terracing at Ninian Park. At the end of the day we don't have terracing because of Hillsborough. It wasn't the fans who got it wrong that day though, it was the coppers. So if there needs to be any restrictions or rules at football matches then they need to be aimed at the police. They messed up yet it's the fans who are restricted. Why is that?

Do not agree that the police were fully at fault that day, ticketless scousers need to take some of the blame

I hear they are clamping down a little harder on standing next season. Also looking to root out any lads out of the family stand and making sure it is a family stand only.

A few weeks ago a man was stood up in the back row of the family stand and was told to sit down by a steward, it is becoming a joke with all the health and safety nonsence they spew out.
they should look to bring back a terraced section that holds only a certain amount of fans with enough room set aside should anything happen so it can be controlled easily unlike the hillsborough tragedy and thus enabling the atmosphere to improve at games.

the Germans have the right idea with seats and safety bars if you want to stand. After Hysel and Hillsbrough the government seemed to panic to my mind and terracing become evil and unsafe, despite the fact its quite clear at Hillsbrough the authorities and organisation didnt help proceedings. The old Kop, holte end, grange end, the kippax were safe for decades, generations and personally If we can try and persuade the authorities to re-look into things Im all for it corky

them away fans were standing tonight at Emrites... Didn't see no problem myself except for a nice atmosphere and a bunch of lads singing and cheering on their team.

All of this nonsense was caused by a bunch of thieving scousers turning up at Hilsborough without tickets.
A disaster caused by a bunch of horrible supporters has ruined football for many in this country.
There were virtually no problems before that game and none since that I'm aware of. The fact that people stood or not made no difference whatsoever on that day. The problem was that thousands of ticketless liverpool "fans" turned up and forced their way into the ground, killing their own. End of.
The layout of the ground and particularly standing or sitting made no difference. It was the speed at which people entered the ground that caused the awful loss of life. If the same thing happened in an all seater stadium the crush would have occurred against the first row of seats or on the steps up to the seats.
The ban on standing has served only to calm the atmosphere at games. Seats mean the authorities can insist that fans sit because the chances are that someone behind will wish to sit and they can't see.
That's why CCS is so quiet.
Let's get thousands of us who are like minded and don't mind people standing in one area and lift the place. Once we do, others will follow and it will bounce like NP could (not always fellas!)

I also think the Germans have got it right. They have safe standing areas for home fans at the opposite end of the stadium to the away fans.

I Do stand in the canton....They are called...grandSTAND, Canton STAND, Ninian STAND we should be able to stand...they should be called sits or somthing otherwise
But yes i preffer standing at games
Thu Dec 09, 2010 7:23 pm
I think it would be great to bring back standing area at ground.
But if it does get passed, it makes me think "Did we leave Ninian Park too early?". We had our standing areas and could the money spend on the new stadium be spend on refurbishing Ninian Park?
Thu Dec 09, 2010 7:36 pm
Well Ali says - SUPPORT THE BOYS AND MAKE SOME NOISE - before every match but I dont think the club wants that either.
Getting back to the model in Germany this is clearly the solution.
For example Borrusia Dortmund play at the Westfalenstadium, and the club owns its own ground. It holds 80720 fans, 50,000 of whom are season ticket holders! For international games they are able to change the barriers into flip down seating which reduces the crowd to 65718. Surely these kinds of figures should interest club owners!!!
24,000 people stand on the terraces and there is very little evidence of trouble. With the levels of CCTV available any trouble makers are easily identified.
The atmosphere on the terraceis legendry, it breeds success for the team and encourage fans to come to the match and keep coming. Also those who want to sit are catered for and dont have to worry about having someone standing in front of them, because those fans will be on the terraces.
This is replicated in other grounds in Germany, where for example Shalke are able to charge just £7.50 for a terrace ticket.
German clubs are strongly prepared for the UEFA changes where outgoings cant exceed expenditure and will be a major force in European club football in coming years.
Safe standing is definitely the way forward as there are clear wins for fans and for club owners, even if they dont overly care what their fans want.

Hang on now mate for starters its not just the scousers fault the commander who was policing the game NEVER should have given the go ahead to open the main gate if the police had done their job propaly it wouldnt have happend. and to be honest i cant blame them for trying to get into a game for free didnt we have a extra 500 fans who wernt supposed to be in the away end up in pompey. if there was problems up in portsmouth we would have blamed the tickets for being able to be used twice. Liverpool fans didnt mean to kill eachother did they ? NO they just tried to watch a football game.
Fri Dec 10, 2010 2:02 pm
Bluebird 16, well said fella.
Howey you aint got a f*cking clue, the police were more to blame on that fateful day.
Read the full reports before you accuse Liverpool fans of KILLING each other
