COMPUTER ADVICE NEEDED

Wed Dec 08, 2010 4:38 pm

My computer has been got at and now every few days it will send out a load of spam e mails to a selection of people on my contacts list, usually it's an advert for buying viagra (got to be better than the penis enlargement ones i used to get every day).

Now I've done all the virus checks and nothing shows up, so how can I stop this spamming from occurring.

I thought this was going to be a joke!

If its from your email account, then try changing your password - worked for me before when I had same problem (mine was penis enlargements!)

It's not the computer they've got at, it's the e-mail address. Could be a number of reasons why.

As above, try changing the password. If it keeps happening, you'll have to change your e-maill address. :ayatollah:

If the password change does not do anything it could possibly be a virus hiding in a file deep in the C: Drive (I've lost you already haven't i?) May i ask what internet security you use and what year it was created because say if you have 2009-2010 it will only stop virus from that year and technically they turn over into 2011 in may because of the new financial year.

Failing all else you can take it to the shop, they will usually charge around 30-40 to put it right (DO NOT go to PC world they will rip you off) or if you have a windows disk a simply hard reboot would be the option but would lose all your current data.
