Totally agree with you Annis, The side against Swansea was very good from players 1-11.Fantastic reaction at the end all at the fence.Miss those days i was 17 in 1992 and it was great to remember football before money changed everything.

Looks great behind the goals. I started going in 1993 and the atmosphere was great then. It was the passion of the fans that got me hooked rather than the football on display. :ayatollah:

Those were the days, nice to relive memories. Also nice to see players run up to the fans that support them as well.
Perhaps someone can show Dave Jones and the players what it means to us fans. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Brilliant video.
Seen this before, a lad lent me an old VHS with a load of old games on.

Few things stood out.

City fans given half the Grandstand down the side as well as filling the West stand. Must have been a few thousand there -wasnt this a few days after the massive trouble in the FA Cup- and this was a midweek game too.

Pike had a great touch and cool head for a big guy.

Leggy looks about 12.

What a superb goal line clearance by Gibbins. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Fantastic support. Just like I remembered :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I don't think this game was the one in midweek straight after the FA Cup game. A cracking atmosphere that night and it meant a lot to the players as well. The Eddie May years was a cracking time following the City. Maybe today's new supporters could be shown a video of the Eddie May Years as a induction into following the City and getting right behind the team. :D

Really need a controlled terracing. Take the seats out of the Canton and recreate the Grange End.

Great days i used to love travelling to the old Vetch even though it was a shithole and had the worse bogs in the Football League  Pike and Dale were a lethal partnership Eddie May was a great Manager and we had just won 6 games on the trot, happy days never to be repeated as i just can't ever see us being allowed to travel to Swansea independetly again :(

Re: " THESE WERE THE REAL DAYS OFF FOLLOWING CARDIFF CITY "

Eddie Mays barmy army ringing around the Vetch again ................ been some great nights down there too ! Millar from the half way line being 1 of them , anybody else noticed that we always do well when CCFC play in the away kit at Swansea ? Maybe we shud do that that for the nxt game in Feb just to confuse the Jacks .............. aye the days of travelling down the A465 ( old road ) and stopping for a pint on the outskirts of Swansea are now long gone Im afraid . Modern football eh ??????

Some superb memories there, some of the current squad should watch to remind them what playing for this club is all about

Carl Dale used to run all day, Stantona did the same, Stoker & Millar were never the most gifted but they would give it their all, the sides of the 90's were not the most gifted but they made it up with commitment and knew what playing for the club was all about as there was a bond between the players & the fans especially when Clemo Wright & Kumar were in charge they hated the chaiman just as much as we did!! :ayatollah:

Re: " THESE WERE THE REAL DAYS OFF FOLLOWING CARDIFF CITY "

who was the last City player to celebrate a goal buy climbing into the fans or jumping up on the fence home or away ????

Re: " THESE WERE THE REAL DAYS OFF FOLLOWING CARDIFF CITY "

Wed Dec 08, 2010 8:27 am

Pity the present squad cant or wont show that passion. Perhaps we as supporters need to come up with a counter plan to Nash's attempts to kill all the atmosphere at the CCS. Even getting a board singing section or as another poster said on a another thread lets get over to the Canton.

Earnie or Kav on the Grange end fence.....before they took it down! It was brilliant to see the Grange go up for Dales goal against Wrexham in the Welsh Cup after he scored with his 1st touch after coming on as a sub. One of the highlights of Soccer Sunday was watching the full Grange End go mental or some Northern away terrace just after we had scored! :ayatollah:

One thing i've noticed with the clips shown of goal celebrations from years gone by is how crazy we went. Was it because it was easier to let your inhibitions run wild in those dark, cramped terraces or is it just the passion is'nt so intense overall these days? That was just a Welsh cup game & you can see what it mean't to the City fans.I can remember watching the highlights after coming home from the game & spotting myself in the crowd jumping about after Pikey's goal like a madman, these days it's just a stand up from your seat applaud the goal & sit back down.OK we're older now & it would look a bit mad jumping about like a lunatic but you rarely see the youngsters celebrating like that these days.Has the game become too sanitised & comfortable that the raw edge has been lost? Watch the players after Pikeys goal & you can see a connection between fan & player, today they come across & point to their name on the back of their shirt, enough said.

Apart from the late goal versus swansea last season, and the penalty shoot out finale versus Leicester and I suppose the late winner v Millwall this season, each goal is greeted with standing up, and doing what one can in a small cramped space to avoid breaking limbs, scraping legs on backs of the seats etc.......none of the random leaping around, hugging strangers and gasping for air like it used to be pre Legopack stadiums.

Think the last time I was able to celebrate wildly was in NP after the late penalty versus swansea in the standing bit of the BB.
