Gutless Primadonas

Sat Dec 04, 2010 8:48 pm

I always agree that you should support the team but today just wound me up so much.

Preston worked dam hard to make up for lack of ability, our lot? Gutless with no pride in the shirt or in themselves.

Hudson and Naylor get all the abuse but the performance of our midfield, Olli in particular, were abysmal. No effort, no pressing, no tackling, and it wound me up!!!

Those who blame DJ for not motivating need a reality check. Yes blame him for tactics but lack of effort by players??

I travelled from Merthyr and due to the a470 being shut took me an 2 and 1/2 hours to watch that shower of shit.

Never mind lads, you can always count your huge salaries and look at your top of the range cars to cheer you up.

On reflection i'm not over reacting, considering the poor run we've had the least we could expect is total effort.

Think behind the scenes may be like an episode of footballers wives!!!!

Thats what got to me today. Hellish travel conditions, had to get a taxi to make kick off then that???

Think they believe they're better than they are, defo a pecking order in the team with the wealthy ones and are the team as driven to go up as we think?

Said in a post of mine a while back, the more succesful we become the more we will be victim to modern day players. Millionare pre madonnas who live in a bubble.

Not the game i used to love.

I agree. it looks as though our players think they got the game in the bag before a ball has been kicked. bang on 50 seconds into the game i said to my mate 'cardiff don't look up for this today' and he agreed

Less than a minute into the game and you conclude the team are 'not up for it'???????? to be fair i don't think there was any lack of effort today as was proven by the fact they kept going and got such a late equaliser!

There was no shoratge of effort today. The side looked disoragnised for 20 minutes, the tactics were poor (too narrow), and mistakes were made, and chances missed. In hindsight Preston were lucky we didnt get 3 or 4 (or brave defending/poor finishing), but the EFFORT from our players was excellent today.

Was you and I at the same game? I pointed out to those sitting near me the movement of Whitts and Olly when we didn't have the ball. No effort to win it back and that whys we often have players running directly at our back four.

Compare Prestons workrate to ours and there's the answer. Our boys are beleiving the hype and think they only have to turn up. Since the Leeds game we've gone backwards. Either disharmony behind the scenes or pre madonnas.

Loss of form is part of football, loss of appetite and effort is not.

I dont think passion or guts was a problem, more a case of a lack of quality yesterday which sounds silly to say with the players on show. I dont care who is in charge of the team and at what level players should have the ability to have a first touch, do simple passes but a lot of the seemed to miss that yesterday.

Preston's workrate wasn't really markedly higher than ours, thats why we have 3 x the chances.

Indiviudally you may have a point though, defensively our midfield are pretty poor and sometimes both of those players are lacking, but others like McNaughton, Bellamy, Keough and even Naylor worked their bollox off.

Whitts is working harder than he used to but has always been a bit lazy and Oli, well sometimes he does seem slow going back, I'm not sure he's 100% clear on what he should be doing. The problem we've got is there are SO many attacking options in midfield, but a lack of cover. Whittingham isnt a defensive player, so if Oli is out of position which often happens then there is a huge gap in front of the centre halfs.

In Whitts defense though he was the man that worked a bit of magic in the corner in the 94th minute to get the cross in.

I wasnt at the game but listened to R Wales. Perry made exactly the same comment about the team being too narrow. Once Bellamy moved wide it got slightly better. Also look at the stats re shots on target and possession. On another day we could have scored 5 or 6.

Its been a problem for a while Wilts.

Bellamy is SO fired up and SO keen on doing well that he is getting dragged out of position when he's playing on the left - its borne out of frustration but its not excuse there is enough experience out there to know its not working. Maybe thats why he's gone up front, but I think he's wasted up there as he's just not a natural finisher. Chopra should be in there. Whitts is also not one to stay wide either - although he put a beauty of a cross in to set up the equaliser.

cant remember preston having 3 or 4 clear cut chances. But you are right, we need to put them away.
