Sorry but the decision smacks of being Politically correct and was wrong. Most of you seem to forget we play in the English set up and it would of benefited us all to an extent. Would have liked England to stage it, passion for football is there big time, no doubt. But on the whole Russia is a good choice, imo...

What I find really funny and somehow embarrassing are the reactions of the England bid team, media and some people from England. BAD LOSERS, ffs, you came in, tried to win it, but failed. So what? It's always the same, like when the English football team plays: England plays it fair (they are the good ones), the others cheat (they are the bad ones), the ref is corrupt, grass too green, ball too round... etc
My favourite one was during the 2006 World Cup in Germany, that the temperatures were too high in Germany, and that was the reason why England were p1sh, as they are not used to the climate in Central Europe...

Of course England is disappointed, who wouldn't? But I'm sick of hearing stupid excuses and accusations, that the whole world conspired against England, it's rubbish!!!

I genuinely think England had the best bid. I am against joint hosts for World Cups, I just find it takes away some of the identity. 2002 was always about South Korea rather than Japan. I didn't even feel Japan hosted it! So for me, it was between England and Russia. FIFA was always going to opt for the untested nation. They love taking the World Cup to new places. USA in 1994, South Korea/ Japan in 2002, South Africa in 2010. They want to spread the love if you will.

For me, that is why they chose Qatar as well. I'm not sure there are any back handers going on but there is definitely this bizarre idea that everyone all over the world must experience hosting a World Cup. The bizarre question is, if that is the case, then why did Qatar win and Australia get voted out in the 1st round??? Surely Australia would be a more worthy host?

It smacks of confusion and disbelief. I think England entered the race way too late and for political reasons will always be against it. I think people see through Cameron and nobody will give him their word.

I am gutted England didn't get it because I'd love to see the benefits in Wales. However, I am more concerned about how FIFA chose the hosts, not which hosts were chosen.

Totally agree with the above quoted post. I was absolutely gutted with the decision today. Some Cardiff City fans who hate England and everything about it are hypocrates. We play in the English leagues and lets face it, England is a fantastic, passionate football nation which i feel apart of. Dont get me wrong i love Wales/Cardiff City but when England are playing in a world cup or european championship i want england to win.

We should all get behind England. Britain is the most passionate football nation in the world and without doubt put football on the map.

Looks like you're a little upset with my opinion?......look back in history and see what the english have done to welsh people and its language ........my world isn't small minded, in fact it's probably too panoramic and knowledge filled than most and yours by the look of it? I think the majority of Welsh people were supporting the England 2018 bid, and rightly so.

Why wouldn't you want the World Cup on your doorstep for crying out loud, its the biggest event in all of football where all the best players in the world would be playing at once just a few hundred miles away.

I am truly gutted for them, and no-one can fault the effort put into that bid, it was outstanding in contrast to Russia's.
