could be a good choice,we really do need to know if he is fit or not.no games are to be taken lightly in this league but it does look like its our easiest up to xmas.

wouldnt risk him for preston just incase he gets injured again he hasnt played no football in months..... not even a reserve game since he was last injured. give him game time in a reserve match (that the club now has to set up) before throwing him in the deep end :ayatollah:

Personally I'd play gyepes. Preston wll be route 1 which is right up his street.

Dont know what Gyepes is supposed to have done wrong. If he f'cks up then Riggott can come in for Boro -show them what they are missing.

Maybe Riggott is looking 'sharp in training'

Tim, My Only worry is, like Drinkwater, Riggott has not had any Reserve games and wont look sharp etc.

Hmm, wasn't Gyepes playing when preston caused our gd to plummet, getting outraced by Parkin?

He was, but Hudson didnt play that day. Hudson coped with Parkin easily at home last season.

Between the 2 of them they'll wrap him up.

I think DJ has to play Riggott if he thinks he's over his injuries. He's been patient enough but he needs to assess him in a match situation and this is as good an opportunity as he's going to get.

I'm sure DJ has thought that he really needs to know about Riggott prior to the January window as it will influence whether he's looking at one or two CBs.

I think most of us will recognise that if he is fit then Riggott is easily good enough to solve our CB problem, however if he can't get back to what he was then he's probably no better than what we've already got.

Let's hope he does play soon and has a stormer because it could be like signing a new player and give us some real confidence going into a busy period :ayatollah:

Its still a bit of a gamble.

Is he really THAT good ? Is he fit ? Is he MATCH fit ? As Annis says he hasnt played ANY football for quite some time.

I hope to God he is the answer.

I know it was only Llanelli but Riggott played 90 minutes against them in a freindly a month ago. I was speaking to Andy Legg and he said he looked a class act. Fingers crossed, but maybe a bit too early to throw him into a championship game.

would be way to early.....ala Drinkwater against the Jacks..........and he had played some football this season prior to injury!!

A big risk in these extreme temperatures.Likely to do a muscle after his long layoff.
Dj must be desperate to even think of this.

Spot on. We need to know ASAP if he's really over his injuries. As for pulling or straining
a muscle cos of the weather?... well the feller is supposed to be a top footballer and as
such his physical fitness should be that of an international athlete. Surely he and the
coaching staff are professional enough to ensure he warms up properly? If he breaks down
then there is still a problem. If he's off the pace, if he's bloody poor then we can forgive
him, he needs match practice. The most important thing RIGHT NOW is whether he is
over his injuries, only one way to find out!!

1 goal less against Preston conceded could make all the difference.

I think the bench would be the best place to start him and if we are winning bring him on for the last twenty minutes or so.

Fair enough. If DJ sees him in training he'll know whether the time is right and it would appease the fans who have been screaming for a defensive change....at least until the Chrimbo transfer window

Re: ' CHRIS RIGGOTT '

Think we are all missing another key point here.....Say he were to start Riggott who would he drop?

Clearly the liability Hudson is undroppable so its poor Darcy for the chop, just like Gabor has experienced a few times already this season.

After an error that would you would be bellowed at parks level let alone the championship lead to us losing the match. Basic rule of defending at any level show the player away from goal.

Funny how Darcy and Gerrard were awesome together, Darcy and Gabor looked fine last season yet none of them look anywhere near as good alongside Jonesys blue eyes.

Will he drop him? Will he bollocks!

Re: ' CHRIS RIGGOTT '

Riggott deserves a place on the Bench at most.

Personally, i'd give him the last 10 minute if we're winning by 2 clear goals.

My own personel view, start him on the bench and see what happens with 30 minutes of the game remaining as he needs to play at some level soon! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
