Today's echo

Sat Jan 09, 2010 8:36 am

whats to come in the echo:-
After virtually ignoring it all week, today's Echo has gone overboard about City's finances with a front page headline of "City under siege". There is also a back page headline of "Stars will Stay" set against a picture of our dynamic Chairman (he looks particularly robust in the photo on page 2 as well!).

As for what is said, there is some new info, but a lot of it is rehashing stuff which has been discussed on City messageboards since Sunday. The Echo claims which I found most interesting are;-
1. It "understands" City have been hit with an "effective transfer embargo".
2. The club are thinking of using some of the Platinum Ambassador scheme money going towards paying off debts (Peter Ridsdale denies ever saying that all of the money raised would go on new players).
3. The Echo "understands" that the club only need to pay off the original £1.2 million debt to stave off the imeadiate threat of being wound up.
4. As Since 62 suggested, the club are looking to cash in on it's right to build a hotel in Leckwith but this revenue had originally been earmarked to pay for the House of Sport which, I understand, has to be built this year.

There are also comments from Since 62 and Vince Alm.

Peter Ridsdale was apparently "clear" yesterday that none of the club's financial issues give him any concern over Cardiff City's future - he believes we are in a much firmer financial footing since the Langston debt was resolved.

Elsewhere in the paper, Terry Phillips claims that a Malaysian takeover is "a real possibility", but nothing will be concluded by the end of the transfer window and there is "big interest" in the club from a group in America while a British millionaire has had talks with Peter Ridsdale.

The bit about Peter Ridsdale denies ever saying that all of the money raised would go on new players interests me the most especially when Dave Jones was quoted as saying this - "The chairman has promised that all the money that comes in will go to bringing in players," he stated.

"Up to £3million has been mentioned and if that's the case we could do a lot of damage with that."

"For the first time ever since I have been here we are able to push on during the January transfer window."

Now now Peter you know telling porkiers comes back to bite you on the arse

PR will wriggle out of it by saying he pleged to use season ticket money to bring in new players. If players are brought in he would have satisified the pledge.

I have always thought that £3m was way over the top to loan 3 players between now and May.

It's probably the same American consortium that we at the Wednesday have BEEN PROMISED TO TAKE US OVER FOR THE LAST 12 MONTHS!!!! Or Ridsdale is using our supposed saviours to keep your boy's quiet while he does a fly by nite!!!!!!!!!! The man stoops that low he can limbo under a rattlesnakes belly!!!!!!! You just have to listen to the Barnsley and Leeds supporters up here to know what they think of him!!!!!!

I've no problem at all with you copying and pasting my post from Mike Morris' board on to here and I am not that bothered that the reference to me has been edited out of your message since it was first posted, but I would be interested to know why it was done.

Well that's a questions for the mods on here, but I thought u made some very valid points and I am glad I did not offend you by pasting your comments here.

So it wasn't your decision then - interesting. As I mentioned, I've no particular problem with someone editing my name out of a message if they want to, but it just seems an odd thing to do.

I have no idea I'm afraid! I saw it on ccmb originally, and then on here with reference to you - not sure why it's gone
