As an outside looking in, and also a supporter of your closest rivals, (on the pitch), I thought that I would give my opinions of Jones the Moan. As a manager there are worse around without doubt and his ability to snaffle Bellamy from ManC, was a great bit of work, but I feel that Jones is a panicker. If things don't go right he looks at other areas to blame then rather look at himself, which as a manager in any industry is a failing and loses respect. Cardiff lost on Saturday and he blamed the ref. Fact is Cardiff still only scored one goal in 96 minutes of football, and that was as a result of a defensive slip, (quite literally). And of course Cardiff let in two goals. But still the ref was to blame and nobody else, not forgetting that QPR could/should have had two penalties aswell. He substituted Drinkwater who was doing a half decent job of keeping Walker, our right back quiet during the game for Koumas, who frankly in my eyes is only at Cardiff for a bit of R&R. He substituted Burke who looked your most dangerous player on the day for Chopra, who frankly looks like he has had one pie and a bottle of vodka too many. Frankly his tactics were found out, if indeed he had any. Then there are the number of loans that he has made during the season, I didn't realise that this numbered NINE. I mean from the team that lost in the play-offs last season, how many have left Cardiff? I can only recall Ledley going, so what has happened to the rest of the team that played in that final. Certainly Cardiff were not the worst team in the league, and surely only a bit of tinkering with a couple of positions could have ensured that you would be where you currently are? But in the meantime, I suspect that he has made enemies with a number of players in the squad as a result of wholesale signing of loanees, who will mostly be back at their parent clubs come the end of their loan periods and not become permanent signings. And to add salt to the wound, he then makes one of them captain. Unbelievable decisions. Finally with the latest statement that he needs a further five players to guarantee promotion, what kind of message does that send out to the remaining permanent members of the squad. Not a good message I can tell you.

For me, if I was the manager of Cardiff City, firstly being a manager is all about man-management, and there seems to be no better exponent of that then Neil Warnock. He had also brought in nine players during the close season, all signings, two of them Bosmans, and the most we paid for one player was Paddy Kenny at £750,000. Overall Warnock spent around £3million on players. But none of them were made captain, even though the obvious choice was Shaun Derry. Fitz Hall was made captain and true to form was injured after two games. Adel Taraabt, then asked whether he could become the captain and I suspect most managers would have told him to f**k off. Not Warnock. He saw an opportunity to bolster Adel's undoubted skill with responsibility and Adel has not looked back. But everybody knows at Loftus Road that the real captain on the pitch is Shaun Derry. For Cardiff though I would have appointed Peter Whittingham as captain and built the side around him. He is a great servant of your club and an outstanding footballer and role model. But then rather than try and sign every single Prem player that didn't make their clubs 25, Jones should have stayed with the main nucleus of the team that finished last season, but supplementing it with a couple of signings and a few kids, which you lot certainly know how to bring through. Sadly these loanees will stiffle the progression of some young players, including from what I am seeing, Adam Matthews(?). This is poor management, and when the chips are down, the loanees in the main will not give a toss. We know, we have seen it at QPR over the last couple of signings. In fact at one game last season we had Ben Watson on loan, and competing in his final match before returning to Wigan and you would not believe the bottling of tackles that were going on. Loanees in the long-term especially mass loanees will not benefit a football club, evolution is far better than revolution, and sadly for you lot I think that Jones's decisions are now coming back to haunt him in droves. Yes, you will beat Preston on Saturday, weather permitting, but to be honest everybody should beat Preston, they really are that woeful, but that win I feel will just be a sticking plaster over what I feel could become a very deep wound. But then again I could be wrong!

good post but I will disagree with the loanee bit tho because Stoke City are living proof that Championship teams CAN go up having 7 or 8 loan players in your squad , cant remember all the names but they did it .

Now lets get this straight right away OK. This DWQPR guy is not me under an alias.

A near perfect description of what is and could happen. I'm with Martyn on the loanee statement that it has worked for the likes of Blackpool and Stoke but the difference with them to us is the manager. Pulis and Olli are far superior managers to DJ, they are more in touch with the modern game and I would trust them more comfortabel with a loanee than DJ.

The sticky plaster sentance I like because it really in touching the truth. We should beat Preston Saturday and if we do that should relieve the pressure of DJ. My fear is DJ will relax too much and drop his guard then come back down to earth after the Boro game. However what I like about that sentance is you can use it against our 2nd in the league statement that a few use to support DJ. This is a crap league and we should be 2nd with our squad, even if they come out with their bootlaces tied together. As we all know though we are making hard work of it. Same old Cardiff hey?

I wouldn't argue with any of that, lathough I agree with Martyn that you can use loanees to your benefit and it can also backfire when you need them most
