When everyone's fit I'd drop Whitts. Just watched the Forest game again and he gave the ball away for both their goals. Plus, he ruins a lot of our build ups with crap shots this season. What's his deal?

Couldn't disagree more.
Hudson and witts did give the ball away more than others maybe but because they were looking for decisive passes and not playing it square and simply like the other bottlers.

I think I mentioned it somewhere before, but what I can remember, Whitts was having to cover for Oli defensively and pick up the ball in a deeper position than normal...so from the start he was at a disadvantage. As 2blue alluded to, I thinkWhitts instinct is to play the decisive pass - no bad thing. I think it's just more of the case of the rest underperforming, making his job harder than it already is.

Tbh I think DJ likes the "passer" is witts/Mcphail to drop deep to collect the ball and then use it well.
Again I go back to pressure but Hudson and witts were the only ones looking to pass against forest.

Fair point, I didn't think of it like that

I also agree with you though, he does drop to deep in general play as his shot is quality but again he has a responsibility in CM and generally DJ likes two players who will hold and wide players who can move.

His two giveaways for their goals were not bad passes but bad touches.
Something's got to give. He's my choice.

I disagree very strongly as whits is one of the best players in the league not just at the club and can not believe even now that city supporters do not like whits

i think whitts is outstanding...always trys to keep the ball moving and always makes himself available...in a funny way i think hes been better so far this year than maybe he was last year even though he scored all those goals,, definatley one of the first names on the team sheet for me....

I agree, tbh I think a lot of fans dislike the ore cultured players like him and McPhail just because they aint seen running about like mad men.

He had a fantastic season last year, This season not so good, He's been poor the last few home games. Hope it does'nt last.

what i don't get is he was a 20 goal man last season when he was playing out wide (was it 23 goals?) so why does jones decide to move him into cm? he was smashing 'em in last season, if it's not broke don't fix it.

I think its to do with Burke and Bellamy.
I actually think he is playing better this season than last season although clearly not getting the goals or even the chances since moving into the middle.

I would offer the opinion that Whittinghamhas gone from bad to worse.
Anyone agree or disagree?

im not a fan of whitts, never have been. hes a fanny..
techically good, but doesnt have enough pace to play wide, and not enough bottle when it gets tough in the middle.

Witts would work better in a middle three ideally with people link Oli and Drinks behind him (we did that start of the season)
Except for his goals last season IMO he doesnt have whats needed to play wide

Saying that though Milly, if he had the bottle, pace and tenacity... or even just one of those things added to his game, he wouldn't be a Championship player. He would be an England international!

I find Whittingham is a very frustrating player but at least he's willing to try something. I still think he's at his best in the middle when he spraying the ball around but he needs Oli to work harder and be the defensive rock that he can be if Whittingham is to flourish.
Our team is currently suffering from too many players on below par form.
