MANC PENALTY APPEALS AND COMMENTATORS' FAWNING SUPPORT!

Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:09 pm

Don't commentators fawn over them so much. If that wasn't bad enough even when Rooney and Berbatov had the slightest opportunity of a shot their decibel level must have risen to the level of a 747 taking off. But back to manc penalty appeals and commentators.

According to them they should hv had 2 in the first half. The first when Berbatov went down after a collision was, "a definite penalty," The fact that the ref, a linesman AND another official 5 yds away behind the goal line all thought otherwise counted for nothing to these commentators who then on to deride them and sarcastically wondered how many more officials would have been needed for the 'correct' (sic) decision to be given. Again Nani, who couldn't keep on his feet in Mothercare due to grannies bumping in to him, went down as if shot. Immediately the tv blared out, 'Nani was hauled down!' could the two hacks on the tv gantry have been more faced as the replay clearly showed it was in fact Nani who had, 'hauled down, the Rangers player.

Whilst their penalty in the last 5 mins was correct it didn't hide further preferential treatment. By far the worst challenge of the night was by that hench-man, twinkle toes Scholes. He simply scythed through a Rangers player on the half way line and in way of defence of the manc player our lofty gents basically said that he got the ball first and just happened to rake down the players shins accidentally. Revisionist re-writing of the Laws of the Game in the cause of the manc is nothing new but so brazenly trying to make good a disgraceful challenge sickened me. Scholes should have seen red, as red as our two commentator's faces. As if to further attempt the truth from us commentators make a joke of Scholes' littany of x-cert tackles by jokingly offering, "We all know Scholes can't tackle."

Supporting Cardiff City certainly puts such matters into sharp focus. As my old mate Arthur would have said of the extravagant antics of Nani: "If that was a penalty, they owe us a million!"
