Students in London and the cops

Fires burning on the streets,wrecking a cop van,throwing missiles, police staying behind their barricades.
On saturday a Cardiff fan will be drinking a can,smoking,gesturing to home fans and the Met. will be on him like a tonne of bricks.

As much as abhor the violent scenes , I can feel for these protestors. People voted Lib at the election in favour of their policies.

Does this mean that all our decision making at election time is time wasted ?
Did we watch and make many threads on the tv debates just to pass the time ?
I am not supporting any party in this , but what are their promises worth ? (And that applies across the board - not just my link , only used that because it is topical).
If they can basically change their minds , then why did we debate it so much ?
