ONE CAP WONDER

Thu Nov 18, 2010 9:19 am

Jay Bothroyd is going to be a ONE CAP WONDER
Lets be honest when Mr. Rooney, Defoe, Bent, are all fit do you honestly think Jay is going to get in the squad.......
If he wasn't a Cardiff City player would we all be saying its a joke that Engurland have to pick from the Championship when the Premier League is supposed to be the best league in the world.....
Like when Nugent got selected a few years ago everyone not associated with his club are all saying what the F**K is he picking him for....
Sorry but the exact same is being said about Jay.......
And in my opinion he his going to be a ONE CAP WONDER ........................ :o

Totally agree with this. In reality he probably wont get a look in when those players are fit however yesterday was a chance for Capello to experiment and Jay was part of that, who knows if Jay is good enough for England unless he gets a chance. Do you think Henderson from Sunderland will be picked against Wales? No, he was in due to injuries much like Jay. It was nice for him that he got some recognition for being probably the best player in the champioship and finally starting to fufill his potential. Well done last night Jay :ayatollah:

Know he has had a taste of it I don't think we have any chance of keeping hold of him.....
His Agent will be working 24/7 to get him a move to the Premiership ASAP sorry to say

not bad for season to say i got my first england cap and became city legends by helping us get up if no good offer comes in jan.

yep his agent is trying to get him a move, but have u heard jay saying he wants to leave? nope he just banging in goals.

good luck to him i say.

Well he couldn't do any worse for them could he. Maybe if they'd taken Jay to the WC England might have had a goal or two to look back on.

Well done Jay, proud of you. :ayatollah:

I don't know how you can say Jay isn't good enough for England? He earnt his call up. Plain and simple. Can you name any other players who deserved it more? Maybe Kevin Davies but I'd still probably pick Bothroyd over Davies in my teams. I don't care if it was one cap or one hundred and one. Well done Jay for getting your rewards. All of us here at Cardiff were proud of you. :ayatollah:

Do you think all the other failures ie gerrard , terry, rooney are good enough to play for england! because the past few years ive watched them they have been SHIT!! and have done nothing or offered nothing to the team, dont get me wrong on paper they should be challenging at the top, but they can't, hence the shake up needed and capello trying out all options to him

but by the looks of last night, some of the confrence players might get a call as the search for players continue

We all know Jay has talent, and yes there was injuries etc but he earned his call up and was let down by a manager who only gave him 20 minutes, in that 20 minutes he done as well as expected, earning a corner which led to the goal and had a header saved. There was a heap of other players who could have been called up before him, but they weren't. England watched him a few times and gave him the chance. That is a credit to CCFC and all the staff as much as it is Jay, the player who was too big for his own boots and all the rest of it.

It's now most likely Jay will move on, although I hope he considers how much he enjoys his football here and what it's done for his career and maybe pens a new deal for a shot at the EPL with us.

If not, and he never plays for England again then he's always got the one cap to look back on, and remember the club who gave him the platfrom to earn it.

The best place for Jay that understand him is here. And if Jay keeps banging them in there is no reason why he cant play for England again. At least he put some heart into that England team and done more in under 20 mins and what Caroll put in during the time he was on.

In truth. I wouldnt know. I dont follow them at all. but its nice to see one of
our players get a cap for The Greatest Football Nation in the world. He never
got hurt, he did ok, and I reckon it will give him an extra bit of confidence
when he plays for us!!!

For fucks sake City... tie him up now, offer him something he likes. If he
goes in January we could be screwed.

Jay is going to do whats best for him and will never sign a new contract until he sees whats on offer from other clubs......
Yet again we have missed the boat with Jays contract...
and it was weird for Dave Jones to call on Capello to have a look at him knowing it will stire up loads of interest in a player that can leave for nothing......
Its as if DJ knows he is not going to sign and would rather get something for him in January rather than we dont go up and Jay moves for nothing (aka Joe Ledley) :( :old:

Capello thought that, under the circumstances and with the players available to him, Jay was good enough to play for England. But I can guarantee that there aren't too many on here, or at the club (Jay included), who are naive enough to think he's good enough to hold down a regular place when Rooney, Defoe, etc are all fit.

Do you know what I've always had this belief (misguided or not) that England would benefit from mixing things up a bit. We all know their biggest problem is the massive ego and sheer bigheadedness of the squad going in to competitions. You know what they are like they seem to think they've won the cup before a ball has been kicked.

If they threw in one or two players from outside the top clubs then I reckon that would have a double effect. One would be the primadonnas would have to watch their backs so they don't get shown up by the "lesser" player. The players from the lower clubs would have nothing to lose and would be out to show that they can play with the big boys.

I might be talking total crap here but lets be honest it couldn't have made them any worse now could it.
