Anyone thinking Carroll is rubbish is :-
a) bitter Bothroyd didn't start over Carroll
and
b) the same people who would love him with us, as nearly happened.
Bothroyd and Carroll are different players; Carroll the traditional battering ram of a centre-forward, Bothroyd more the continental style.
Carroll did well last night in a poor team with little service.

Carroll could be a fantastic England player if he formed a regular partnership with a small pacey striker like Defoe or someone of that ilk. He wasn't going to get anywhere playing on his own. I've always found that playing against a small quick man in a 4-5-1 is more effective than playing with a big man. Yes, the big man can hold the ball up and bring others into play but it takes time and often the big man is dispossessed before he has a chance to do this. Playing counter attack and launching balls through for a quick striker is much more productive. Through balls and balls over the top can keep the defence on edge.
I think Capello has proved he can't do it against the big teams. England shouldn't have renewed his contract after the World Cup and they won't do anything at Euro 2012. Last night England looked short of ideas and lacking ingenuity. Carroll was a victim of bad strategy and terrible tactics. I think Bothroyd has more potential than Carroll but Carroll wants it more it seems. As much of a c**t as he is.

Andy Carroll did better than most for the wankers!
One typically English comment last night had me howling
"He's a handful for any defender in the world in the air"
The English media never fail to deliver do they
