All the big boys lining up to buy Bothroyd

Tue Nov 16, 2010 3:21 pm

it seems Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal, Newcastle and others in the Premier league are interested. Man City are probably the only ones that have not shown any interest. It's gona be a bidding war lads and I am afraid we may see the last of Bothroyd come January if he does go I would just like to say thanks Jay for your service to the club you owe us nothing but a big transfer fee would be nice. I hope Dave Jones is actively seeking replacements because it looks like we are going to need one. For those with long memories it's like John Toshack all over again. I sure hope his leaving does not cost us promotion.

my opinion i don't think he good enough for top four. he tad overated. all these headlines just make me laff it like england have found a gem of player, well ad stoke he failed wolves coventry charlton, only since he joined us he become a good player due to dave jones keeping on at him al the time.

i hope dave is looking for replacement but for me i don't think jay will have another season like he having. he have new big contract yes but there we go it happens in football.

don't get me wrong i think jay good footballer on his day but it easy for pres to put a story up cuz as it we cardiff city and they look at us as selling club?

if he went to top four or top 7 club he be earning 30 grand for getting splinters out of his ass

my opinion tho totally :ayatollah:

I could see him going back to Arsenal he is the one type of player they lack, a big strong centre forward with the skills to match.

Apparently he's on the bench for England. All it will take is for him to get on the pitch off the bench and hit one of his smashers outside the box then every man and his dog will be putting a bid in for him.

Yes, but much rather he stayed because he will be terribly difficult to replace.

To be fair he is bigger stronger and far more skilful than Nugent. Don't underestimate what he brings to our team without him we will struggle to get in the play offs.

If Uncle Ridders was still here he would have gone but now we have the Malaysians on board they will see the bigger picture of us reaching the promised land and how Jay fits into the business model overall - they'll offer him enough to stay. DEFO. :ayatollah:

This is a Toshack moment.
I was 18 when he left.
Myself and a lot of other fans stopped supporting City.
I came back a lot didn't.
This will test the metal of VT and TG.
What if we force him to stay, he gets his arse in his hand and reverts back to the player we all know?
What if we let him go and we lose out on promotion?
I would say keep him for the sake of a couple of million, because that’s what it will be.
Let’s get to the premiership then if he goes other class players will want to come.
Blackpool are doing ok so why can't we?

All it would take is for Jay to have a stinker with England and the interest would fall to zero. Thats the way of football im afraid.

Re: All the big boys lining up to buy Bothroyd

We will not get anymore than £2million for him.

The quality of the bidders means nothing. They will all bid the same and leave t to Jay to decide. The only winner here is Jay as HE can get a bidding war going for his signing on fee and wages.

With that in mind. He stays until June.

I disagree. If he plays well and scores, come January if he's got another
5 or 6 goals I think bidding will start at around 4m.

Personally, if the City can sort out some short term deal for Jay to stay
until the end of the season then Jay will end up doing much better out of
this deal. If he finishes the season with 25 goals or more... he will be able
to name his own price.

However... Football is a fickle game. Jays not daft. If he turns down a
Premiership club in January... what if he gets injured, loses form, what
if his head comes off again... Come the summer interest will have died
off.

Re: All the big boys lining up to buy Bothroyd

Tue Nov 16, 2010 7:29 pm

I reckon we need to offer him around £15 grand a week till the end of the season, a big fat promotion bonus, a goal bonus and a guaranteed juicy contract next season if we go up.

he might then stay, but if any of the top 6 prem clubs come in for him we can't stand in his way - he would be rightly disgruntled. his worth has never been greater and at 28 he isn't going to get many more big contract offers. The transfer fee offered to the club is irrelevant - its the wages where the real costs lie these days.

He's under contract for the rest of the season, Why sell in jan for a few million and prob mess up our promotion charge losing out on the big money the premiership brings. surely TG and VT will not alow it
