In My Opinion its Cardiff City's Fault if Jay leaves or does not Sign a New Deal.

You cant Blame Jay in MY OPINION, I jut hope he stays till May, which I feel he will :ayatollah:

could be another Joe Ledley situation in the making here ................. only way he will leave in Jan is if a good offer from a Prem League club comes in . If he does go then lets hope City have enough points in the bag otherwise DJ's lack of plan B will cost us dearly :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Jay knows he is idolised by the fans and I'm sure he has had his head turned by the amount of money CB and MC is on and wants parity. His agent is trawling him around the EPL and given his form at the moment he is hot property. HOWEVER Jay was on his way out of football until Dave Jones got hold of him and he owes Dave big time. He would be training at Wembley today with a chance of a full cap without Dave's faith in him. If Jay leaves in January and because of that we fail to win promotion he would be letting us fans down but more importantly the man who believed in him. For you older supporters I can remember the time we were in a position to win promotion when John Toshack left for Liverpool. The club bought Alan Warboys who scored 4 goals in his forst game then never scored again. Guess what we failed to win promotion.
So Dave,Jay,VT & DT get around the table and get it done. We are going up so Jay in our shirt next season is a must
Please do not make the mistake the club did in the past lets try to keep the best players at our club not at others.

everyplayer has a purple patch my opinion the headline go to far if he was that good he would not of ended up at us. yes i agree with you saying that jay was always gonna be hardest to try nail down.

worst thing for the clubs that want himm in jan was for him to get callled up means his price has gone up, would u refuse 6 mil for 300.000 grand player, we could go preston get parkin for 600.000 and prob get miller from west brom for aboyt 2.5.

if he goes in may so be it least he done best thing in his football life send cardiff up.

Warboys scored 27 goals in 60 appearances for us 1970-1972, the reason that we did not get promotion that year was because the board waited 7 weeks after Toshack left before buying Warboys

ps. not Parkin but Jason Roberts

With the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd looking at Jay I think it's inevitable that he will leave us.

It would be nice if we could give him an immediate new deal that includes a buyout clause. At least that way Jay gets an immediate lift in pay.

If a big team comes in for Jay then with the buyout clause he knows Cardiff won't stand in his way.
City and Jay will have done the best for each other.

If he does go I would like him to go to one of the big prem team. I hate seeing are best players leave for average premiership clubs that aren't that differnt to Cardiff.

Trouble with the buyout clause is that Jay could get a hefty signing on fee if he was available on a free, so instead of some club paying us £2/3m they could give say half to Jay, its a lot of money, so apart from doing a Ledley, and not signing we have to keep him till the end of the season, we only paid £300k for him so if we get promotion then not getting a fee for him is fine

Somebody should get sacked for offering him 8k. If the club have offered Jay 20k a week he could have been signed up now on a 3 or 4 year deal. That would have put a few teams off and we could have got more money for him. As it is we will be lucky to get 3 million for him if anything

Jay is 28 and will see this as his last chance to get a big pay day, and will very average players picking up 30/40k a week best of luck to him. :ayatollah:

All this is giving me a headache, if we lose Bothroyd we're gonna struggle, be it in Jan or be it in the summer. The club was slow again in sorting out his contract, if Chops is on £18,000 then Bothroyd should be on at least equal to that. I know the Malaysians have got a tight budget and they want the club run on stable financial footings but you have to look at each case individually, Bothroyd makes the team tick and at this moment is averaging almost a goal a game, if we want to keep him then make him a realistic offer before it's too late. Look at Ledley, he's supposedly on £20,000 a week...is he as good as Bothroyd??

no way club should be selling jay in jan unless a huge sum is offered. without him our chances to get promoted are really slim.

He is worth £20k a week in my opinion. As the BBC said, he's our most valuable player... which considering we have Craig 'Wanted By The Top Four' Bellamy in our side is some shout. If I was Jay I'd state a £15k if we don't go up and £20k if we do go up take it or leave it offer. He's worth it. Just sell Hudson to free up the wages! :D

Jay is an excellent player and once he went off at Wembley I think we all knew we were going to lose the match.
My wife was crying at half time.
I think the club will either offer him a vastly improved contract or sell him and replace him in January.
His value has escalated in the last few weeks.
I hope he stays but I don't think the club will 'do another Toshack' and sell and not replace immediately.
We will have Jay or someone as good leading the line in 2011. ( I hope! )

Odds on in my Opinion Martyn and Only the Club to Blame for it in My Opinion, Certain people within the Club and certain Fans were Arrogant about this in The Summer and in Sept.

I wouldnt blame Jay at all if he went on a free.

I dont really blame the club either, I think the policy of not doing the contracts until we brought in was the right decision.
If I were to blame anyone it would be PR who had us under a transfer embargo for so long, IMO his contract should have been done a year ago

If we go up then Jay may want to stay anyway. The grass is not always greener on the other side. Chelsea could come in for him yes but with Drogba Anelka Kalou how much game time would he get ? Not a lot then the old Jay would return.
If he keeps banging them in for us and he does well tomorrow then he will play for England again. And he must be confident that we will be going up and he will be playing in the Prem anyway.

Some very good points IMO, I would like to think if we offered him the money he would stay.

Jay more than anyone should know that with all the clubs he has had.

exactly, he is altready in the England squad so its not as if he is moving to help his england chances. Would sitting on the bench at Chelsea help? I dont think so. Would going to a midtable prem team help? yes if they buildt a team around him like we have, but will they? no
