Because theres better there...? Jay Bothroyd is hitting the net for fun, unlike other English strikers. hence why he's been put in the Preliminary Squad. Obviously he's doing something right...

Heaton is in great form too, lets be real, the only people who think Jay is good enough for the England squad are biast City fans. Understandable to back our players and I wish him luck but I dont think he is good enough for them.

Andy Carrol is the ONLY current England striker on form at the moment. It's about time an England manager has looked a something else appart from "big names" like Rooney (injured I know), and others. Maybe he won't get in the full squad, but who knows until it's named. Right now, in my opinion he deserves the call up. He's scoring goals for fun, and making defenders look like fools. He's carried our team this year, and I think many would agree. Should A player NOT be called up because of what league he plays in?

Doesn't mean it's the 4th best standard!!
And, he may well be scoring goals for fun, but he isn't playing against the same standard of player as premiership strikers.
Good luck to him though, it'll do his confidence the world of good if he does make the squad.

Could swing either way. Could make him big headed i.e. Ledley. Or it could make him score more goals to make City give him a new contract he thinks he deserves.
