doubt if he'll go in January. He can sign a pre - contract agreement (which is not binding) with any other club in January then wait and see if we get promoted. If we go up my guess is he'll stay if we dont go up he'll go. Either that or we will make him an offer he can't refuse i.e a bumper contract with a clause for massive pay rise if we go up.

my gut feeling is that he will eventually sign. There is just a bit of jockying for position between the club and his agent at the moment.

The thing u gotta look at is he's 28 now so this will probably be the last big contract he can earn for himself and so u can't blame him for pushing it to the limit. I would be doing exactly the same if I were him.

The other point is that this season Jay's performance have actually improved despite all the speculation so we can hardly moan about him not showing enough commitment
I think we have to accept that at 28 this could be Jay's last chance to prove himself in the Prem and, as long as he gives his all whilst he's with us, we should all be OK with that.
I actually feel that he will sign if we go up but he may wait right until the end of the season to be sure. One thing I would safely predict .............. he won't go to Celtic

In January we wont get much for him, a million tops and I doubt we could get that. It would be better to keep him and let him go for nithing if he really wants out. Half a season from him and the benefits would far outweigh any fee we could secure in Jan. If he gets us promoted and walks away he will always be a legend. If he wants to stay great.

Given the collective business sense and IQ of footballers is somewhat equivalent to that of a dead slug, that's a bad idea...
