O/T Laser Eye Surgery

Fri Oct 29, 2010 11:23 am

Going for an appointment later today, has anyone had or know of anyone that has had the surgery?

Started reading up on the subject and beginning to have second thoughts :(

Any feedback would be really good.
Cheers

I'm overthemoon! :) :ayatollah:

Seriously, I had laser eye surgery about 10 years ago and it's one of the best things I ever did in my life!

I used to wear contact lenses and when I worked long shifts, they made my eyes dry and irritable and made me feel more tired!

My eyesight has deteriorated slightly since I had the surgery however, but it's still well above the standard expected to be able to drive without glasses!

Whilst I had mine done in London, my mate paid for his wife to have his wife's eyes done at Ultralase in Cardiff and she is also 'overthemoon!' :) :ayatollah:

Hi mate, I work in an opticians and have done for 12 years. I have heard some good things and some bad things from our customers. I have also heard that if you think it's to expensive at your initial consultation leave it for a bit as apparantly they will keep phoning with a reduction in price! Hope this helps :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

had it done in the august 2008 with optical express... all fine and dandy.

then had a detached retina in june 2009... three hour op, bits of plastic in my eye and a month with 12 stiches in my eyeball makes me wonder if the £3300 was worth it.

When I had the op, every optician i seen wearing glasses said it's too much of a risk and your messing too much with your eyes and every ophthalmic surgeon says that people who have had laser eye surgery that develop cataracts in years to come will be very hard to treat!

Both my Uncle and Cousin have had it done, and both thought it was amazing, they are always recommending people have it done.

My mate went for a consultation and first there £400 per eye was a joke it would be a hell of a lot more than that. At the later stages then they told him in certain light conditions he might still have to wear glasses  .Spending thousands then still having to wear his glasses sometimes he told em where to go.
