Great to see cup upsets (when we're not the team being beaten by lower league opposition).
Tonight in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round:
Fleetwood Town 1-1 Arsenal (Fleetwood win on penalties)
16-year-old Max Dowman sent off for Arsenal

No way was that ever a red card & it looked like Arteta just screamed at him, he's 16 ffs & didn't do anything wrong. How about watching it yourself before being an arsehole about it to the kid, that was not a good look.

I'm going to disagree. I think it's a red card, I think if a senior player does that everyone would say it's a red card. There isn't much force but he's kicked out. By the letter of the law, it's a red card. I don't like saying that because he's just a kid. A bit like when Robinson threw the ball at a Swansea player, it's soft but a red card.
However, Arteta's response was bang out of order in my opinion. Absolutely no need to speak to the kid like that and you'd hope there will be some sort of apology to him.

Nowhere near, as we did it in the 90 minutes, but I’m pleased for Fleetwood

I assume that’s aimed at Arteta, and not Ned, as I don’t see where he (Ned) said anything other than the sending off had occurred?

Bigger in my opinion. Fleetwood are 18th in League Two and have just beaten the champions of England who were in the Champions League Final.

Think it was aimed at Arteta to be fair, Chris.
Arteta's reaction was out of order.

Fleetwood Town pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Carabao Cup history as they beat Premier League champions Arsenal in an astounding penalty shootout to reach the quarter-finals.
Mikel Arteta's side were left shell-shocked when Aaron Loupalo-Bi gave the hosts - ranked 84 places below the Gunners in the football pyramid - an unexpected lead in the 21st minute.
Viktor Gyokeres pulled the visitors level after the break, but a wasteful Arsenal side could not put the game to bed and they were reduced to 10-men in the 86th minute when teenage starlet Max Dowman kicked out after a hefty tackle by Harrison Neal.
Jay Lynch made two sublime saves to stop Ben White and Martin Odegaard right at the death to take the hosts to penalty shootout.
And the Fleetwood goalkeeper pulled off more heroics as he stopped Bruno Guimaraes' spot kick before Conor Haughey sparked scenes of ecstasy at Highbury Stadium by converting the winning penalty.
Fans flooded onto the pitch, players swore in their post-match interviews, while manager Matt Lawlor was reduced to tears during the emphatic celebrations.
Fleetwood will find out their quarter-final opponents when the draw takes place following the conclusion of Chelsea's game against Liverpool on Wednesday.

I agree on both counts. It just looked harshly worded in response to your OP

Great win for the minnows what the cup is about. If these top clubs don't start there we 1st team from there last league game it what happens some times although he brought loads on and a few started but still Fleetwood defended for there lives. I love results like this players on 600 quid or whatever vs 250k a week players which shows it's all about heart and how much you want it.
As for the red card age has nothing to do with it he kicked out you get red carded in my opinion and deserves a shouting down off the manager it goes on at u14 grass roots level let alone senior football. What's arteta supposed to do give him a lollypop and cuddly toy the tell him to go to a safe space FFS , a learning curve for the player for years to come.
