Man Utd

Watching their game today, they look like a relegation team!

Not sure how a club of that size can be this poor over such a long time.

They'll probably sack Carrick tonight but I doubt it'll make any difference. They've been through all sorts of managers since Ferguson and it hasn't changed anything.

Maybe both Manchester clubs will be in the Championship next season

They're where they were before Fergie & going through the same when it comes to managers. They were just about to sack him when he got a stay of execution from winning a game & the rest as they say is history.

2 down at home to Bournemouth halftime!! Won't be surprised if Carrick goes tomorrow..... conte gave interview other day and he basically said when you want me just give me a call? Think Carricks days were numbered after this interview .

3-0 now, he'll be gone tonight.

Like I said though, doubt it'll make much difference for them because look at all the managers they've got through since Ferguson.

Ned as most pundits say its not the managers its the ownership that needs to go? 25yrs and debt still 1b yet glaziers make millions year on year without stepping one foot in Manchester! All this after using man u money to buy itself for glaziers benefit.

Well at the end of the game their fans were singing Carrick's name so it's clear that they don't put most of the blame on him.

No ned but Neville says hes gone tomorrow that's why fans singing his name hes popular and it is not his fault..only reason anyone wil go there is for the money! Because cant exp go improve this bunch of players so lifespan is limited at utd

Yeah they'll definitely sack him tonight or tomorrow.

I rarely give credit to Man Utd fans but to be fair they responded well to Carrick after the game, rightly pointed their anger towards the ownership and the players. Probably not happy that a club legend has been thrown under the bus.

I don't feel sorry for them though, they had it so good for such a long time so I'm not surprised a lot of people are enjoying their collapse.

Conte would be an absolute disaster there after the first few weeks.

Impressive that the guy the Glazers brought in to be the new face of the club has managed to bring even more toxicity

I love it. I don't think they will get relegated, but it's great to see them struggling.

I always thought we were a BTEC Championship version of them: recruited terribly on such high wages that it's hard to shift them, so you are stuck with them until their contracts run out, and you don't even get a fee.

Look at us now; we are on the path to being one of the better-run championship clubs. United needs a billion to write off the crap they have bought and their replacements. It's lucky if they wanted; the rules allow them to do it, because of who they are, but their owners won't :P

There was an air of inevitability about Michael Carrick's walk around Old Trafford after the 3-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.

It is not unusual for Carrick to applaud the Manchester United fans. If anything, his acknowledgements were not as pronounced as they were in Como after the equally devastating loss.

But after eight games without a win, the worst run since 2015-16 and two horrific defeats in a week, the end is approaching for Carrick, with his bosses in serious talks about his future.

However, if anyone in a senior position at the club thinks the issues at Old Trafford will be solved simply by changing the head coach and, more importantly, the fans will be appeased by a new face in the dugout, the reaction from the stands on an awful day on and off the pitch would have very clearly told them otherwise.

On Friday, as he looked back on that 4-1 loss to Como and ahead to Bournemouth, Carrick said: "We'll be a different team on Sunday. We have to be a different team on Sunday."

Sadly, they weren't.

Carrick could not answer if he will still be in charge for next Saturday's trip to Chelsea. He does not know.

"The responsibility is mine," he said. "What else can I say really right now? I totally understand the situation. I'm not expecting anything either way. I love this place and I'll always do what I feel is going to be the best for the football club."

It looks like either Eddie Howe or Nagelsmann, whoever it is, will improve the league position. Carrick is out of his depth and has lost the dressing room.

Look at what BBM has done here; it proves the value of getting the right manager. Clubs like us at United need to learn that scattergun recruitment only leads backwards. Long term planning and the right signings are the only way forward.

That's not the point though, there are far deeper problems there.

A new manager will come in, they'll do well for a bit and the cycle will continue. Man Utd fans were 100% right yesterday to sing Carrick's name but boo the players and ownership. They rightly feel one of their club legends has been thrown under the bus.

They've had good managers since Ferguson but all of them have failed. Ferguson was different, because he controlled practically everything at that club.

I have performed a complete 180 on DoF's. I am not so sure they are the be all and end all i once did. United have had some of the best managers of their generation but all have "failed". Are we approaching a point when the DoF and CEO have to go instead?
I don't think they should get the best manager available, they need to get the best manager who fits what they want to do. Conte isn't a fit for the fans as he is very functional, unless he is winning of course, but that goes quickly when the loses start stacking up.

Recruitment wise they are a mess, what are they all about? They have 3 starting "10's" and without taking the mickey, Our Alex Robertson would be a better fit at the sitter, they don't have any !!!!

So if anyone needs to go perhaps its the CEO and if he doesn't fall on his sword then the DoF or Sporting Director. Jason Wilcox is no mug, but he doesn't look a good fit for them.

I used to be desperate for us to have a DoF, but for the last 12 months I've been dead against it. I've looked at other clubs and in the majority of cases they cause problems rather than solve them.

Carrick is probably not good enough manage a club that size but it's pretty obvious by now that he isn't the problem at that club. Ineos were supposed to go in there to make things better but if anything they've made things worse and alienated their fans even more. Not just the football side of things but things like treating match going fans badly and sacking staff.

They'll appoint a new manager and the cycle will just start again, reports that Radcliffe has total confidence in Wilcox so it looks like to they'll continue in this way.

They will never give a manager the amount of control that Ferguson had, we are one of the few clubs these days where the head coach gets control of this much.

Looks like Man Utd have decided to keep Michael Carrick as manager and he'll be given the opportunity to turn things round.

Dead man walking- that was like us sticking with Riza, and it just got worse.

They definitely need to replace him but like I say, he is not the main problem at that club.

They could bring in the best manager in the world and nothing will change there.

Re: Man Utd

When Michael Carrick disappeared down the tunnel after Manchester United's loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, the support from fans for a legendary player turned to hostility and anger at the current squad.

The atmosphere afterwards was said to be emotional.

Carrick was the last to leave the stadium and, as usual, patiently posed for selfies and signed shirts for the fans who remained on what had been a foul day weather-wise, and an awful one on the pitch.

Asked in his post-match news conference if he expected to be in charge for Saturday's trip to Chelsea, Carrick said: "I'm not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I'm carrying on as normal."

Few felt that was sustainable. Even Carrick's coaching team wondered whether they would survive.

And yet, that is what has happened.

United have decided Carrick and his players will have the chance to turn the present situation around. No timescale has been put on this, but Carrick will be in charge at Chelsea, with his team 16th in the table.

They have a crucial Champions League match against Roma three days later, then a Premier League encounter with in-form Aston Villa before a two-week international break.

No-one from Manchester United is saying so, but that would be the most obvious time to decide if a change of coach is required.
