BBM: Lee Riley did a great job

Sat Oct 24, 2026 9:20 pm

BBM talking about his touchline ban:

"Lee Riley did a great job, he's always been better than me so the players were in good hands.

I'll have two fines from the players at the Christmas party for my yellow cards."

I think three yellow cards in only 11 games is quite excessive for a manager so maybe he should calm things down a bit.

But maybe that's just him and we don't want to take anything away from what he's doing.

Lots more coaches getting booked as well as their assistants! Lot more than use to be....think its the pressure of the job and tne bad refereeing they have to contend with.

Yeah that's a fair point. One of the yellows to be fair was for running down the touchline for Rubin's goal against Wrexham.

Did Riley get a yellow card in the last few seconds?

Just before their final corner the ref raised a card in the direction of our bench which I presumed was because they were complaining that they'd already played over the amount of added time that had been announced.

Couldn't tell who it was aimed at though.

Wonder if the refs have been told to crack down on touchline behaviour by managers and coaches?

I think it was to the Birmingham manager because he threw his arm in the air and walked away straight after.

Can sort of get his frustration, I thought the referee gave us practically everything.

He's been harshly treated; we've had some terrible referees. Imagine working your bollocks off all week only for some dopey ref to cost us goals and points.

The last yellow was for nothing.

It was to the Birmingham bench. They were desperately trying to get instructions to their players. Even the subs came on with written notes to pass on. Their guy raised his hands to accept the yellow as he’d strayed well out of the technical area.
