“It was a very special day for us. We spent a lot of time in Aberfan during the week and we understood what the day meant to everybody, so to give everybody the victory that was so badly wanted is very special for everyone.
"I had an awareness of what happened there, but I never knew the depth of what went on and what people experienced. So then I learned about it, was educated and we organised a visit there during the week. I think it was very important for the players to watch the footage to understand what the people there have been through. The day up there was very important, and while you're there it's, naturally, emotionally very difficult.
"Football's football, and we couldn't guarantee that we were going to win today, but we had to produce a performance that looked as if we understood what we were playing for. On such a poignant date, it's very important that we played the way we did."

Great words from BBM, fantastic to hear he ensured the players fully understood the event and what it meant to the town at the time

BBM really understood the feelings of the people of aberfan and relayed it to the players perfectly what a manager we have at our club!!!

It is things like this and the photo of him next to Sol's mural that will make him a very, very special part of the club's history every bit as much as the on field success.
The really special thing though is that he genuinely seems to do these things because they are the right thing to do, wheras someone like Warnock (who I love btw) but you knew what he said about us was the same as he'd said about every other club (great fans them, my kinda people...)
But BBM genuinely seems to give a shit about the community that comes to cheer him and the lads on every week.
He's a very special guy imho and we're lucky as hell to have him.
