In the lower leagues we were very loyal

I still have a programme for this game Annis somewhere. I was in the David longhurst terrace in the home end behind the opposite goal to the away end.

A 15 year old thinking to myself please get 3 points for us , the only time I wanted the away team to win that season Paul Barnes scored one and the whippet on the wing Jon McCarthy, I can't remember the others. Although I lived up that way due to father in the army and York was my football buzz as closest to me from where we was based in Strensall army camp. I think a season Ticket was penny's back then. Bootham Cresent is now new build homes as you probably know like most old grounds. I was up there seeing some school mates a few months back and went there they still have a section where you can walk through.

When we come back home to family in the school holidays at the time I'd be in the bob bank then and pre planning dates and games for the 6 weeks I'd stay down my nans house then up the valleys
