A forum for all things Cardiff City

Come January.
Jack Moylan is a great talent, pure quality and without him, Cardiff would be in serious trouble in my view.
A Bigger Championship Club or one going for Promotion?
Even Brentford have been monitoring Moylan.
Moylan has taken the Championship by storm since arriving from Lincoln City in the summer, registering seven goals and three assists in 13 appearances for the Bluebirds.
His impressive form has also carried over to the international stage, with the 25-year-old scoring and assisting for the Republic of Ireland during the recent international break.

If he carries on like this, will be very difficult to keep.
I'd be surprised if he went in January but we could be severely tested with offers from the Premier League next summer.
At the moment, he's one of the best performing players in the Championship and it's been a long time since we've said that about one of our players.

And RTÉ soccer pundit Alan Cawley believes Moylan has the potential to take another significant step in his career, identifying Brentford as a club where the forward could thrive.
The Premier League side are managed by Moylan's compatriot Keith Andrews, while former Shelbourne boss Damien Duff is part of his coaching staff as assistant manager. That existing Irish connection has led to suggestions that the Bees could be a natural fit should Moylan's upward trajectory continue.

Im sure there will be interest , however this is his first season at this level so teams may want to wait until the summer to see if he continues this form over the whole season and this isn't just a purple patch
Also bbm has consistently stated hes under no pressure to sell any of our important players and at the moment moyaln is our main man

Speaking on the RTÉ Soccer Podcast, Cawley said: "Jack is absolutely flying. I think Jack is only going that way [up].
"It's only early days, you don't want to be getting too carried away, but Cardiff will be doing well to hold on to him if he keeps up this level of form. He's absolutely flying."
Cawley believes Moylan's athleticism, movement and ability to influence matches in the final third could make him an attractive proposition for clubs operating at a higher level.
"There is one club I have in mind, who probably a lot of people have in mind, because of his close connection with a couple of the staff members and with the Irish connection at the club," he said.
"I could see him there in that environment. I think he's a fantastic player. The trajectory he's on at the moment and the way he's playing, I'd love to see it. I really think he can step up.
"In the modern game, he's so athletic and dynamic in his running power. I think he would make the jump in that area as well. Top clubs are so focused on that now, he can even improve in that department if he got a big move."

Moylan is our best player, he is not ready for the Premiership imo, but could fit in well with a top championship team. Early days, he needs to build on his championship experience. I think we will keep hold of him this season, he doesn't want to sit on the bench elsewhere.

Why is it everytime we get a decent player who does well hes at risk of being sold according to rumours? Same thing happens with youngsters lawlor Colwill ect ect its as if people cannot wait for it to happen.

Don't even consider anything under 20m but ideally it would great if the club was on the up also and showed ambition, build and develop together, BBM included, similar to what linked club Brentford done themselves.

Other thing to consider is teams will be more aware of his quality now so would expect Birmingham to defend in a way that stops him from playing his game. Before the season teams would have looked at Salech, Rubin etc as our dangerous players that they needed to try and stop.
If he can continue to do well after teams realise they need to try and stop him playing his game then I think interest in him will be more likely then.
I highly doubt there will be interest in January so it's about how he does over the course of this season, PL teams will want players that are consistent.

Yes, we need him; he's on a four-year contract. They can have him in four years, although we may be above them in the league by then.

If anyone has him in 4 years, they’ll get him for free. Players can’t be allowed to run their contracts down.

We need to keep Moylan, if BBM can strengthen with youngsters and start bringing them through, it would be great for our financial future Tan isn't going to spent so we must hold onto our good players.

Like Annis says in the OP, it's not really a rumour. It's just an Irish pundit saying he's someone Brentford might look at in the future.
It's good to see one of our players getting the praise he is getting

If he continues this form, it's inevitable. Unlikely in Jan mind, unless we get silly money. If we get silly money, we sell; that's where this club is at.
If he's in and around the 20 goal and assist numbers, which is looking likely, then I'd offer an improved contract with a tasty buy-out clause.
We'd be fucked without him currently, that's a fact. Hell of a BBM signing. Quality, not quantity.
Tue Oct 20, 2026 12:50 pm
I can't see anyone coming in January for him
He's only just signed for us so it would make sense for clubs to wait till he's shaved a year off his contract with us
I can see offers coming in the summer but with the players we have out of contract that should free up a lot of funds to strengthen and I don't think we would be in a position where we need to sell
So I would turn down offers unless it's silly money that we couldn't possibly refuse

Even if they’re still ‘
doing the business’ for you, and better in our team than someone else’s to that point?
Our club won’t be daft. If he’s (at some point) declining a new contract and of any value, he will be allowed to go like anyone else, but we’re not at that point now and I do find this thread very premature in its conception

There will be interest and maybe an offer .
However, I think we will manage to hold onto him this season.. next season might be a whole new ball game.

We need to keep super Jack for as long as possible. Great player with a superb engine

Well Hayden Hackney was a class player at this level over a couple of years and went to Everton for £16m.
Part of the reason I think nothing will happen for a while, but that's the sort of fee.

We'd have extended his contract by then and be moving on to better; they can have him for £31 million in four years

I can't see any January offers either he's already taken huge step up in a short space of time. Any Premier league club is going to want to see if the form sticks.
Summer is a different story "silly" money seems to be pocket change in the transfer market at the moment

Great signing for us - Player of the season to this point
