As far as I know, the sanction hearing hasn't taken place yet?
If not then nobody can possibly know what the independent panel will impose, assuming they don't win their appeal.
This may be what the Premier League want but obviously no guarantee that it's what the independent panel do.
So I'm cautious of any reports until the sanction hearing has taken place.

Isn't one of their beerfs is the panel wasn't independent because guilty verdict exposed before officially announced?
This is looking like going same way...
Etiad airways have employed the world's leading litigation lawyer to look into their complaint of defamation by premier league! Looks like they mean buisness .... was stupid of premier league to make accusations that unquestionably implied Etiad was involved in a scam (even though name not used)

Could be wrong because I don't know much about this stuff, but I think if their main argument is that the panel wasn't independent then it will fail.
Appeal has to be heard within 12 weeks of initial verdict with sanction hearing to follow. So the Premier League are obviously determined to get this done by the end of the season.
What I don't get is I'm sure Everton and Forest had their sanctions put on them immediately, so surely they'll have to do the same with City after the sanction hearing?
By the way, Man City top of the Premier League with seven wins out of seven....

It will be double standards when it suits if they are found guilty again. That's what will baffle other clubs fans and fans in general around the world. 4 points for an offence breach Vs the rules others have had if i remember correctly. So we shall see.

Problem is not all charges are liable to points deduction so main charges are small in total but still worthy of massive points deduction penalties .... but there is also financial consequences for all the clubs in legal fees if man c take it all way..... can see all trophy records expunged but not allocated to losers as part of punishment.

Ian is right though Allan that Everton got a four point deduction for one charge, so surely for all the Man City charges that are liable to points deductions they should get four points for each of them?
Like I said, I don't know much about this stuff but surely that's the fairest way to do it?

Not sure it works that way ned as it would depend on how it came about? But guessing it was a deliberate act as that is what was said! (Scam) also can they sanction them for years they didn't cheat? "If any" in reality they could be deducted 100+ points 10 relegations and millions in fines if take what you say to logical conclusion ... not sure their owners will take things lying down? We know cant go to CAS so can they go to uk courts if they can that as we know could take yrs and money premier league does not have.....is etiads threat some sort of leverage against premier league? Just a thought

Yes it is leverage against the Premier League and the amount of political capital involved is massive.
so very good leverage ... besides they won't just tell man c here's your punishment I'm sure there will be some sort of negotiating on it to try and avoid appeals and extra expenses...... around 75m at moment big bill for whoever has to pay it!

Unfortunately though they have Lord Pannick in their corner, he's the best appeal person in the world. Wins a lot of appeals.
But every football person will want them to be screwed.
