Red card - yes or no?

Sat Oct 17, 2026 1:42 pm

Do you think the red card for Osho was the right decision?

I thought it was soft. But it was a poor challenge and gave the referee a decision to make.

Voted no.

Nope, ref played a blinder & should have been given a red shirt.

As it's a straight red I would 100% be appealing that

Stupid high challenge-yes

Re: Red card - yes or no?

Sat Oct 17, 2026 1:51 pm

Stupid one!! Once he stopped the game he probably had to show him red but should have played on and given a yellow!!

Osho was so far away from the ball though and it's another lapse of control from him

Re: Red card - yes or no?

I think it was because of the 4th official, the ref let play go on but I think the 4th official told him it should be a red card. As Osho was walking off he was wagging his finger at the 4th official, who was also saying something to Osho.

Waste of time appealing!! That won't get overturned becuase they will clame he was out of control and nowhere near the ball!

Wasn't high! Stupid challenge yes but never a red card but what can you expect from refs in championship

Re: Red card - yes or no?

Definitely not.

Overreaction by their player, their bench and the home fans and the ref swayed by them all.

He'd been letting tough tackles, fouls and shirt pulling go all game and then gets out a red for that.

Ridiculous.

Stupid and reckless but not a red
We should have had a pen too
Poor refereeing

Not a red for me. Lad milked it. Yellow. But osho didn't need to dive in at all

Harsh red but still a bit of a mindless decision from Osho.

He reminds me a bit of Danny Ward for Wales in that he can’t seem to just have a great game, he always has to do something stupid to balance it out.

Osho lunged in aggressively, out of control and missed the ball. The ref had no option and I'm stunned with everyone saying it wasn't a red.

Unfortunately, this sums Osho up. He was brilliant first half, probably the best I've ever seen him play.

Second half, he started winding Lankshear up, then started reacting to the crowd with his silly little grin on his face. It was obvious he was starting to lose his composure, this why he makes so many mistakes to get sent off or cost us goals.

It wasn't out of control at all. It was a leave one on him tackle that you get booked for 99 times out of a hundred. The ref played on FFS so how bad could it have been. Dreadful ref

I suggest you watch it again.

It was a very rash and ugly challenge. A "leave one on him" tackle as you put it, is an intent to harm your opponent, especially when lunging in the way he did

A clear red card in my opinion.

Unusual to agree with you but for me this a definite red card 100%

Nowhere near the ball, high and with intent.
The referee had no choice.

Osho is a senior pro, but unfortunately, he doesn't act like one; this has happened too often.

You have to play the situation. Its a big club, ground, crowd. Boro are up looking for the winner from a 2-goal deficit; the atmosphere is febrile. The ref spoke to Lankshere and Osho only minutes before; Osho goes flying into a tackle in front of their bench, takes the lad clean out.

It's an"orange" card for me. At home, without any previous niggle, a yellow. But in this situation, a red. And a daft one, as he had a great first half.

Just back (To Leeds), crazy traffic getting away. But, red card? in the ground we thought soft but obviously wouldn't have seen TV replays, saying that the ref played on and was giving them advantage? If it was that bad a red card why not stop the game!

The ref though throughout the game reffed with a red shirt on, Moylan dragged down pen, and numerous other decisions that went against us. He performed like some of the refs we encountered in L1.

Still, home how, cold cider in hand, and really happy that in the end we got at least a point. Players and BBM looked a bit dumbstruck at the end when they came over to us, well played lads

Botman just made a challenge for Newcastle against Villa that was far worse than Osho's and only got a yellow.

Botman for ncastle just did worse tackle than that and got yellow even with var looking at it!

It will depend on refs view if why gave red? If he puts dangerous and endangering player could have grounds given what just seen at ncastle! Definitely not dangerous or endangering opponent

I think the fact it was right in front of the bench and the way theirs reacted definitely influenced his decision as if he initially thought it was that bad he wouldn't have allowed the game to continue before going back and giving the red card , I feel we have grounds for an appeal

Like you've said though, Botman's was worse than Osho's - he was over the ball. Osho can't be a red if that one isn't.

To be honest was shocked VAR didn't send the referee to look at the Botman challenge.

No complaints from me. Looked like a red to me from the angle I saw it . If you lunge in you are asking for trouble

I thought Osho was having an excellent game and has been in good form but for me, yes red card.
