Ciaron Brown

Another fantastic performance from him tonight for 9 man Oxford, following on from some great performances for Northern Ireland.

I'm pleased for him. He was never really given a fair chance for us. We threw him in as a youngster in a struggling team, playing dire football.

We could do with him in our defence now, that's for sure!

Pleased for him, always good to see ex academy players do well.

What I will say is I'll never judge the club for letting academy players go, I don't remember many being upset when he left. Hindsight is a great thing. I'll openly admit I didn't care that he left.

But I'm pleased that he's gone on to have a good career. Whenever I saw them on Sky in the Championship I thought he played well so maybe a little surprising he didn't get a move (unless he'd rather stay there).

Also, hats off to Ramsey. I doubted he'd be a success but made a very good start at Oxford, credit where due.

What about that booking for a simulation which was second yellow? Completely changed the game.

Brown is immense. Just came good at a later age which sometimes happens with CBs. Apparently he did ask to leave but with Oxford being under embargo and then unable to sign players as well as losing a new CB to ACL injury he couldn’t be allowed to leave. To his credit he has knuckled down and cracked on.

Ramsey is super impressive.

You obviously watch Oxford so do you think it's straight back up?

Cards on the table, I thought it would be a mid table season for them but Ramsey seems to have got them in a great place.

We could finish anywhere from top to be struggling. Ramsey has Oxford doing really well. But there are games midweek and Saturday now until the end of the year. The squad isn’t the biggest.

They are building a new stadium but a group called friends of Stratford brake keep using every avenue to appeal and fight it. That’s why we are under embargo. The release of funds is linked to new stadium. If there are further delays I do worry.

Of note, bearing in mind Oxford can’t spend money at all on Monaco transfers due to the embargo is that Aston Villa and Coventry both loaned us a player totally for free. Zero payment.

Also of note is that these new rules for teams dropping to league one from championship require a bond putting in for double the amount of expenditure which is why Oxford got under an embargo.

Like Mark Harris, Brown is a very good League 1 playerbut for me, that's their level.

Clearly didn’t watch him in the championship last two seasons. Brown that is. Totally right about Harris.

We should never have let him go and the fans that got on him were fools. He made mistakes because we kept shoving him out to play left back all the time

We used to get 70% odd possession against us every week. That would be difficult for anyone to be a defender against.

Weirdly he is Oxford’s third top scorer since 2023. Always looks like he Has a goal in him. Finishing is good.

The way he is now Cardiff fans would have loved him. Puts his body on the line constantly. Headers, clearances. Rarely gets beat.
