Really not impressed with that by him tonight.
The game was won, should have just let Moylan have his hattrick.
Even worse that he ended up missing it, he knew when he walked off that it was the wrong thing to do.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 8:49 pm
A lot of the time he gets an over the top amount of stick from people, but he’s really not helped his cause tonight
Tue Oct 13, 2026 8:52 pm
Poor from the Canton Stand booing him when he was subbed though
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:04 pm
He deserved what he got tonight that was real selfish of him, theres supposed to be such a good bond between this group of players which he didnt show in that moment , hopefully he learns his lesson
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:05 pm
He almost certainly regrets doing that now and the game was won, but still.......

Not for me. Tonight was Moylans night.
Willock is our history. Moylan is our future.
Kav, Whitts, etc give that to Moylan.

Nah he's our player awful form booing him

Terrible fans booing Willow but very strange for Moylan not to take it. Is the rule whoever is fouled gets it? Weird and poor if Willock didn't even offer for the hatrick. Don't think Moylan looked too impressed
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:13 pm
Willock should have let Jack take it. But booing our player taking the penalty was embarrassing. It's for the players and manager to sort out off the field.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:15 pm
One thing I will give the club enormous credit for is how well they've done to clear out the mercenaries from our relegation season. When Willock's contract expires in the summer, the last of them will finally be gone.
To create such an embarrassing scene on the pitch, taking the ball off the designated penalty taker for today who had already scored and was on a hat-trick, was incredibly selfish and egotistical.
It's not as if he'd produced some moment of individual brilliance, beating several players to create the chance himself. Ashford put it on a plate for him with an absolute sitter, and he still nearly managed to mess it up!
We'd had a fantastic evening, and he tarnished it with his antics. I wouldn't be surprised if he's on a goalscoring bonus, because his behaviour suggested he's far more interested in himself than the team. Ashford, on the other hand, showed exactly what a selfless, team-first performance looks like.
I was also disappointed in BBM for not taking him off and leaving Moylan on. Moylan looked absolutely fuming at the final whistle and didn't seem interested in speaking to the coaches!
For me, we should strengthen in January especially on his side and let him see out the remainder of his contract. The sooner we move on from players with that sort of attitude, the better.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:16 pm
It was a poor choice, but maybe he was looking for a bit of confidence after he ‘
won’ the penalty?
It was clearly Jack Moylan’s opportunity to round off a great display with a hat trick, but booing any Bluebird off after a game like that is out if order IMHO. We won 5-1 after all!

NG as the captain should have stepped in and insisted Moylan took it.
But unfortunately, as shown with NG's lack of discipline giving a silly free kick away to prevent us from keeping our first clean sheet of the season, he isn't a strong captain.
It was a thoroughly selfish act by Willock. He will always be a luxury player who doesn't work hard enough. He isn't a team player and his selfish act tonight showed it.
I was pleased Willock got booed. He put himself first before the team, taking the hat trick away from Moylan. The team should always come first and what he did was wrong for the team. The fans had every right to boo him for his selfish act.
Even if Willock scored, it was 100% the wrong thing to do.
Willock now needs to accept it and concentrate on performing well to get the fans back on his side again.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:39 pm
Completely agree he should’ve let Moylan take it but booing him is not great at all.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:41 pm
Willock = pillock!
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:46 pm
It was Osho who stepped in and stopped Moylan from grabbing the ball off Willock. NG was nowhere to be seen!!
He was probably too busy looking for his performance, because he was miles off it tonight! If it hadn't been for some poor finishing from Watford, he could easily have cost us three goals!!

No he put himself above another individual player not the "team" it was the wrong decision even if he had scored, it's still the done thing to give Moylan the chance. Booing him is crap and continuing to boo him after the fact and when he went off is worse.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:49 pm
Didn't agree with what Willock did but didn't agree with the booing either. To be fair he did get some applause as he walked round the pitch after being substituted, you could tell he knew he got it wrong.
I think BBM substituted them both partly down to that whole situation, wouldn't have looked good if there was a perception of him publicly favouring one player over the other in a situation like that.

I think that's probably right but by taking Moylan off it was the second time he was denied an opportunity to get his hat trick!
Doesn't the manager decide who takes the penalties? Forget what the players want, it should be made clear before kick off who's going to take penalties to avoid embarrassing situations like tonight.
I hope there was no element of "he who won the pen takes it" because if we need to score a penalty to stay up and Osho or Fish win it we'll be going down!
Tue Oct 13, 2026 10:24 pm
Like you said, this isn't Under-7s parks football!! At this level, everyone should know exactly who the designated penalty taker is. Judging by BBM's post-match interview, it sounds as though he hadn't actually appointed one, which is ridiculous!
If that's the case, BBM has to shoulder just as much responsibility as Willock for it and hopefully things will be put in place in the future.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 10:27 pm
Wondering if with Salech and Colwill out it just goes to whoever won the pen?
It’s shame though, no doubt some members of the press will try and make it overshadow a good performance.

I hope not - what a stupid and risky way to decide who takes one of the most vital kicks in any match.
Penalty taking should be an essential part of preparation for every football match and those who show the most ability and the necessary skill and temperment should take every penalty given whilst they are on the pitch.
We've had so few penalties over the last few seasons that we cannot afford to waste them.
Tue Oct 13, 2026 11:09 pm
First time Willock has taken a penalty in a competitive game.
Hopefully the last.

Sorry, I can’t agree;
no Bluebird player deserves to be booed after a win like that!

Bbm didn't know what was happening the responsibility lies with NG he's captain he should have been upfront in who took penalty! Not same person always takes two pens in game unless its someone like kane ect.... booing was out of frustration that he missed thats it.... obviously it should never happen but fans are fickle but Garauntee if it was 2-1 moylan would have taken it.. we won so no big deal .

I agree with you, Allan. Of course we mostly think it was an obvious one for Jack Moylan to take, but I’m not sure the reaction would have had the same reaction had he (Chris Willock) scored
I’m getting behind BBM and his players without overreacting like some on here; particularly when the team has won at home 5-1 (and it could have been more)
We have something ‘special’ building at this club, and I’m going along for the ride!

Chris I've always been of the opinion that bbm hasn't got to grasp coaching at a higher level his subs are not right 4-1 up yet leaves it to 80mins before Robinson comes on why? Should did it at least 10mins earlier game was won ! Basically his subs are very haphazard and at times non senscle...... tactics are niave at times especially away but cannot fault his skills when comes to youngsters... so we do have something good brewing (i said double promotion early last season) thats unlikely but hopefully he gains the experience needed to get us out of championship next season tans backing permitting or sale of club?? Permitting.

Let me take you back to what Arsenal done when Ian Wright was playing in that team -
He said at the time that they had a pen taker and unless that player was the player taken down - He would take the pen .
We should have had the same policy in place - could you imagine that someone else would have taken the kick before the likes of Whitts /Ralls etc ...
We Won the game - We move on
