Bothroyd: Cardiff have to do everything to keep hold of Lawlor
The Bluebirds legend believes Cardiff must keep hold of the highly-rated defender amid interest from other clubs.
City did well to fend off interest from West Ham as well as abroad, but suitors are unlikely to go away if he shows the same form this year as he did last season.
And Bothroyd believes the 20-year-old has everything required to reach the very top.
“One of the players Cardiff have to try and keep hold of is Dylan Lawlor.
“He reads the game well, for someone so young, his distribution is good, and he's aggressive.
“I'm sure he has ambitions of playing in the Premier League, and as I say, he has all the attributes to make it there.”
Bothroyd knows it won't be easy for Cardiff to fend off interest from clubs at a higher level...
“It's not easy to turn down those Premier League offers when you're in the Championship.
“It would be great if Cardiff could keep hold of him for a few more years, and who knows, maybe he'll fulfil those Premier League ambitions with the Bluebirds.”
