The mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, has called for improveme

The mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, has called for improvements at the football club as frustrations among fans continue to rise.

Saturday saw the Hornets’ poorest performance of the season, a 4-0 defeat against Burnley who, at the time, were bottom of the Championship table.

In fact, it was the Hornets’ joint-heaviest home defeat in a league game since a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool in October 2021.

Mayor Taylor was in attendance at Vicarage Road on Saturday, where fierce boos rang out after just 35 minutes, by which time Watford were already 3-0 down.

In a statement provided to the Watford Observer, Mayor Taylor said that he understands fans’ frustrations and called for improvements at the club.

“I was at the Burnley match on Saturday,” he said. “This was a painfully poor performance. I know that fans are frustrated and angry about the situation at the moment and understandably want to see things improve.

“The club is a huge part of our town, and they’ve done so much for the community for decades. We need to see things turned around.”

Mayor Taylor’s statement follows a series of similar messages from supporter groups, former players and even legendary former chairman, Sir Elton John.

Following a series of statements, most notably from Sir Elton, who admitted to being “very upset” about the Hornets’ decline, The 1881 Movement, an official supporter group, published an open letter of no confidence in the club’s owner, Gino Pozzo, late on Sunday.

The mayor will be attending our stadium more times than Tan ever will
And the mayor will only be at our stadium once.

Watford as it stand could be joining Preston in potential relegation unless they get a new manager in.
Wont be surprised if Watford bring in 4 managers throughout this season to get the club in the right direction.
