MOWBRAY: WE EXECUTED THE PERFECT CARDIFF GAME PLAN

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray has revealed how his side planned to hurt Cardiff City after working on it extensively during the international break.

Despite the Bluebirds dominating possession, Rovers knew exactly what they wanted to do and punished Brian Barry-Murphy's men with two first-half goals.

"We knew we were playing a team with good possession stats.

“So we let them play their usual passing and we didn't touch it for the first five minutes; they had 50 passes before our first contact.

"We were expecting that and then we executed what we had been working on. Transitions, playing forward quickly, running past the ball and we did that."

"The second goal epitomised that with how we nicked it, put it forward, crossed it and scored."

The Blackburn boss admitted he wanted an even bigger win, but was delighted with how his side stood firm after Cardiff pulled a goal back.

“"I'd have been much happier if we'd scored more and won three or four nil but they got a goal.

"After that, we showed some grit and determination to stay in front and win the match."

Mowbray had praise for BBM's Bluebirds, too, describing Cardiff as a "very well-coached team" and warning they "will take points off teams this year".

Murphy will have to Master the art of changing tactics ,
warnock was a master at changing to counter the opposition ,not just bringing players on in the same position same style,
he would completely switch it up ,this i would say is the only thing bbm needs to adjust or add to his way of playing.
Its obvious mobray had changed his tactics to counter our style we need also to look how other teams play, if we do not adjust our style we will be sussed out every game.

Yes we need a plan B, I thought he changed it for a while and that’s how Robinson scored, maybe we should of continued like that for the rest of the game.

Not just changing to a plan B but perhaps setting up differently from kick off with different teams especially away from home.

This is exactly what I said after the game. You have to give Blackburn credit. Yes we had an off day but some blame every aspect of defeats on ourselves, without giving the opposition credit.

Yes you did Ned and you right Mowbray did a good job on us and had studied everything about us.

It provides a blueprint for other teams to play against us, especially when we play away.

BBM needs to find a different game plan or be able to change during a game or we'll become too easy to beat by canny managers like Mowbray.

But bbm did nothing at halftime to counteract it? He waited until 70mins (again) to bering on the players to change way we played and there lies problem not enough time to effect game! Not for 1st time this as happened.... bbm is not good at responding to other coaches tactician changes during games

True that he didn't change personnel but we went more direct after half time, not fair to say he didn't change things.

Coaching a certain way but needs to add to his portfolio that's why I said warnock was a master at it he had years of experience and could change it up with ease when needed,
you don' t get loads of promotions for nothing ,I think bbm will have no but to try otherwise oppositions teams will say they cardiff play the same way for 90 mins.

Ned said changed things but to late? As the thread says Mowbray had a tactic it worked so why didn't bbm change at halftime not the statuary 70mins? We always do it late in game and its then a wing and a prayer we score with pressure not with normal way we play....... it doesn't take what Mowbray did to beat us it can happen during game coaches see how we play (it never changes) adjust their tactics and bbm fails to do same in real time its nearly always 70mins..
