BREAKING: Gateshead FC have agreed a deal in principle to be sold to US-based Flacks Group, which has a reported global asset value exceeding $7 billion.

The deal, subject to regulatory approval, comes amid unpaid player and staff wages, which the club says will be paid immediately.

In February, Gateshead fans made the 902-mile round trip to Truro City, equalling the record for the longest away day in English football.

Some travelled by car, others by train, sleeper train and even rail replacement bus just to be there.

They were rewarded with a 2-1 win. Now THAT is an away day.
