Cardiff City have three weeks to improve, recover key players and build on their first win and will be far stronger on their return.

There remains debate among supporters about whether Cardiff's squad is deep enough, particularly given the club's decision not to make further additions before the transfer deadline.

But Barry-Murphy has consistently been clear that his focus is on improving the players already at his disposal rather than dwelling on those who are not.

"I think it's really beneficial for us after such a congested period early on," the Cardiff boss said.

"For us, it's too early in the season to have a prolonged period off. So we'll train as normal this week and then towards the end of the week we'll have a few days where we take some time away.

"Then from next week, it's back to normal for us, where we try and make sure that we can improve a lot.


"We see it as a window of opportunity for us to improve the fitness of all the players. But obviously, the ones who are coming back, it helps them even more."



And that is where this break could become particularly significant.

Because Cardiff are not simply hoping to return with a more polished version of the same team.

This team will be far more improved and fitter and together than they were before this break.

I do think we'll get better as the season goes on but for balance, we also are vulnerable. If both Moylan and Rubin get injured we lose a lot of creativity. Same goes if Salech gets injured.

I do think BBM is a great manager but not sure how Dalman can say he's the best manager in the league when this is his first season at this level. Not taking anything away from BBM, but think that's a lot of pressure Dalman has put on the manager.

Doesn't answer one fundamental question? If he had so many players to bring along why does he put 2 keepers on bench a 15yr old and 16yr old none of which should be in 1st team squad and not gaining playing time? That doesn't help their development a non sensicle situation to be in..

Its all smoke and mirrors Bbm and board were the only ones who thought we did not need a 2nd dedicated striker? Moving moyland or using Robinson ect to a central striker is not a solution for a salech type player...

The only thing we need to get better at is taking the chances that we create. Unfortunately we don't have the players who can do that.

Did anyone see the miss by Haaland against Sunderland, very similar to the chance Salech had that was saved, except Haaland missed the target completely.

Not saying he’s as good as Haaland, but I think some would pick holes in anyone we had.

I remember Frazier Campbell having a decent season with us, but it was due to him being supplied with so many chances, he’d finish 1 in 3 golden chances but the fact he got into the positions was enough.

Hope the players don’t come back worn out, fine line at the moment between improving what we have and burning them out. They need to be ready to hit the ground running

Agree allan salec was ,before his injury very much an aerial threat from crosses etc ,
and I said many times we need a similar player,
Robinson is not an aerial threat, and i have not seen moylan and Rubin banging them in with there heads,
they hwve no need to if they can score with there feet,
but we where trying to get a similar to salec.

Monty not sure a salech type is nessasary but a proven striker is? A lot of our goals ste creative goals not battering ram type... but as such we don't have proven striker of any kind? Robinson ect are more like forward players not dedicated strikers who can play the lone striker role down the middle! Hopefully salech is ok and doesn't miss any games from shoulder i jury but it did highlight n how vulnerable we are upfront just like last season.....
