What's your opinion on our start heading in to the break.

We've stepped up a division, we've not been beaten by five of the 8 teams we've played so far and we've been crippled with injuries. Fine margins but our P8 W1 D4 L3 should probably be P8 W5 D1 L2 which would see us 2nd behind the Jacks. I have changed my tune in the week but I think the performance and win today and now a break mean it's been an OK start to the season. I think we will be fine come end of season and 3 of the teams below us, Preston, Derby and Bolton are worse than us and I reckon 4 more at least are worse too. Only 2 teams in the bottom half have lost less than us and only 3 in the bottom half have scored more. Better players coming back and I am sure come the next break we will be in a much better place.

Performance wise we've been great (QPR and Pompey not so great).

We need to turn those performances into wins and did today thankfully, needed that.

I said at the end of last month that we'll be nowhere near bottom three and still believe that.

Rubin, Fish and Davies coming back after the break will help us massively.

But our performances show we can compete in this league.

Should probably and reality are two different things. I for one have learnt to live with the reality any other way of thinking in burying your head in the sand. We are 20th in the table not 2 second where we should “probably” be. That’s a huge gulf between reality and probability you see my point?
We not in the relegation zone so that’s a positive. We had some injuries but non even close to as inspirational as losing jack moylan would be so we getting away with that.
Murphy still learning at this level, he’s been no where close to this level before so let’s hope he learns quick. We are where we deserve to be at present.

It's been a satisfactory start which has been clouded by a dreadful end to the transfer window. I think this did have an effect on the team for a week or two. Our performances at home have been outstanding but we have to be much better away from home if we are to trouble the top half. At times we have been very unfortunate in games but equally we have been incredibly wasteful too. I can agree to some extent that our position is 'slightly false '(Nathan Jones) but that's the fine margins of football and I need to see some more killer instinct from this team to believe we won't be scrapping down at the bottom just yet.

We’ve played some fantastic football, and I now go to every game genuinely expecting to enjoy the experience.

What a transformation from the Bulut days, when going to games had started to feel like a chore.

The biggest highlight for me has been just how convincing we’ve been in the Stoke, Sheffield United, Bolton and Charlton games. They were proper batterings — the sort we didn’t even produce regularly in League One, where teams often sat back with 11 men behind the ball and made life difficult for us.

The obvious disappointment has been the number of chances we’ve missed, along with not bringing in the two key players we needed during the window.

It’s also worth remembering that we’ve mostly played teams that will finish in the bottom half of the Championship so far, so the next run of games should give us a much tougher test.

But overall, I’m delighted with the way we’re playing. The feel-good factor around the team is as strong as I can remember it being.

Of course, fans are always going to moan when we miss chances or don’t get the result our performance deserves — that’s football. But take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

We’ve got a talented young squad with plenty of homegrown players, playing exciting football under a brilliant young manager who is still learning his trade at Championship level and has a huge ceiling himself.

There’ll be bumps along the way, but there’s so much to be positive about.

Realistically our main issue we cant keep a clean sheet , we have a sort of settled defence and still can't buy a clean sheet .
Sort that out and we ll drive up the table
If wed only have a clean sheet in half where would we be

I think we’re a one player from being a comfortable playoff team…. A string mobile striker, they are hard to find. There is a but though…

The squad is thin and a few key injuries and we’d be in trouble. For example, Robertson, Ng, Moylan.

We’re going to lose Beliek soon as well but Lawler is back and personally I think Fish is our best CH. Have been impressed with Osho.

I certainly feel the football we've played doesn't warrant our position. And feel lacking fire power and cover for salech cost us these points. But and im trying to keep it as positive as I can as I love BBM and totally back him. But my biggest fear moving forward is lack of numbers with injuries especially some proper competition for salech.

I am happy enough. We have never been outclassed, looking like we don't belong, just hoping for a smash-and-grab performance.

I believe this is a "holding" season where we acclimatise and work out who is who at this level. BBM is very loyal to the sqaud, and i think he'll give most a fair crack to show if they are worth a place. The small sqaud works if the range between our best and worst player is very close and the deeper "sqaud" players are U21's.

Chambers, Robinson, Willock and Turnbull's contracts are all up at the end of the season; that's 20% of the sqaud but probably double that of the salary. I think thats massive, so its important we stay in the division and kick on next season.

Football is a young man's game, and we have that in droves, and they are pretty good young men

Feeling alot better now after that win , and with lawlor coming back , players linking up very nicely yesterday , Moylan on top form , and with Rubin to come back fit will be a great extra when he finds his form .
But am still worried with no back up if we get injuries more injuries .
January is a MUST to buy and strengthen .
I think the question now is what is the Plan going forward now with salech looking like he could be out for a while ?????
And willl Robbo have his scoring boots on ?? I think he will !

I’ve not heard or read hardly anything on sacking the manager. Did you read that on here or in real life ?

The good thing is although we’ve had a sticky start with only one win we are sticking to BBM principles.Realistically we would/could and definitely should have more points.

I think the end of the transfer window knocked everyone a bit, now we've just got that, lets just get on with it attitude. The performances are good. I saw a stat we've had 81 shots in our last 3 home games apparently. Should have beaten Sheff utd and Stoke, Pompey away we missed loads of chances. I'm really sure that if we added more firepower in CF and wing positions, we could have been looking high in the table. Still, if we can do that in Jan a little and finish mid table and build again in the summer, keep hold of players and BBM next season, we could be looking good. I enjoy watching us play, we are close to being a very good side.

Potentially, also in January we could lose Alex Robertson (Australia) NG (Singapore) and Salech (Jordan) to the Asian cup. NG is trying to sort it and Jordan are hopeful on Salech apparently.

If we keep performing as we have, I have no doubt there will be a gradual improvement in results. The importance of yesterday's first league win cannot be overstated, especially going into the international break. Another draw or worse would have cast a cloud over the club but thankfully this didn't happen.

Looking forward, the obvious point to make, as one poster has already mentioned is our inability to keep clean sheets. This is vital, especially away from home in which we could be involved in a 50/50 battle, where the outcome is decided by a defensive lapse. It is up to BBM to make us as watertight as possible. OK, we're never going to be like the Pulis-inspired Stoke team who last got promoted from the Championship. They were almost impossible to break down but BBM has to find a solution to our defensive inadequacies. That, I would suggest, should be the manager's number one priority moving forward.

Unless you're the type of person who knows the ins and outs of all Championship teams, you couldn't possibly know which team has the weakest bench. I would say if you asked 60-70% of other team's fans, they would say the same about their club.

From our perspective, when Rubin, Isaak, Will Fish return from injury and Lawlor is back up to speed, our bench will look much, much stronger.

Your right about other clubs strength in depth. What I would say though is that's us with only one injury (Chambers) it's unrealistic to go for long without a few injuries.

Whilst people see lack.of sighnings as a problem that as not undermined the performances! The injuries have possibly been main cause because its resulted in not having right players in right positions ... but even so we lead league in attacking stats and really should have 7 more points even with lack of players and injuries to start season with? Maybe the one player needed yo sighn was a striker but given way we play I'm sure we can adjust team to make up for that afterall the chances have been spread around team not just to salech! Only thing disappointing about start season as been fact we unquestionably should have 7 extra points at least and no one can argue against that point given we battered teams we dropped those points to....

Most of our injuries are CB. We are not going to have 3 CBs on the bench to make it look better. Mind you we shouldn’t have 2 keepers on the bench in any game. Our bench the other day had 2 keepers, an inexperienced 15yr old, an inexperienced 16yr old and an inexperienced 17yr old. I don’t think you need to know the ins and outs of every team to know that’s a weak bench.
