Cardiff City, Senior Leadership Meeting Summary

CCST, alongside other supporter groups, met with Cardiff City Football Club leadership today, including Chairman Mehmet Dalman, CEO Ken Choo and several departmental heads. Below is a concise summary of the key points discussed and the Club’s responses.





Transfer Window

The Club reiterated the manager’s comments following the QPR defeat.

The Club stated they are working in full alignment with the manager and trust him to make final decisions on targets. They believe their recruitment process is more streamlined than many of their competitors, but on this occasion the players identified were simply not available or deliverable. Patrick Deboys, Head of Recruitment confirmed significant work is already underway for the January window.




Long‑Term Strategy

The Club maintain that a robust long‑term strategy is in place. However, due to the competitive nature of the industry, they do not intend to share detailed elements of that strategy outside the organisation.




Communications

The Club accepted the request for broader communication from senior leadership and have committed to quarterly calls with supporters, allowing issues and questions to be raised directly. These will be arranged on an ad hoc basis rather than through formal club channels, with further information to follow.

They do not plan to introduce quarterly newsletters, video updates or similar direct communications from senior leaders, and advised that communication from the Owner remains unlikely.

The Club believe their overall fan engagement already exceeds that of many other clubs, citing FAB meetings, sessions like this one, SLO activity and the Fans’ Parliament. Additional supporter‑focused initiatives are planned.




Museum

The Club confirmed that the museum project is progressing, though no further detail was provided at this stage.

He’s had several opportunities to back BBM and largely failed to do so in a way that would push us right up the table. Instead, he is relying on BBM’s noise with the youngsters to drive us forward on a low budget. In reality, he did that in League One, and fell very lucky with BBM’s appointment

On that note, I agree he doesn’t want to increase the wage bill, and is unlikely to change his stance in January, unless we have players moving out

Yesterday (Saturday September 19th) members of the Cardiff City Fan Advisory Board met with Messers Dalman & Choo. Read our summary of the meeting below:

Maybe the worst kept secret since Ibrahimovic signed for Utd lol.

Memhet updated those of us in attendance regarding his health, he hasn’t been a well man at all for a long time but is feeling better than he was.

The club put in a £10m bid for Dahl but the player wanted PL football.

Bielik was wanted last summer but didn’t want to drop to League 1, the club kept up dialogue with him through various meetings and were 1st in the queue when the time came. There were other championship clubs in for him too.

BBM has 2 set meeting times with the Head of Recruitment ( who was also in attendance) and he confirmed he sometimes spends hours with BBM daily and they discuss various players, how they’d fit and transfer windows.

the issue of Communications was brought up, they don’t intend to open any other avenue of communication as they feel they are ahead of current EFL guidelines and meet the FAB 4 times a season already, uncaged is used and has great content. A question regarding communication from the Chairman and CEO and Memhet said he would be open to a quarterly video conference where he would answer any questions put to him.

Unfortunately there were some confidential topic updates that cannot be disclosed.

Memhet knows things are going up on various sites and stated we can pass on the information we were told today apart from the confidential parts.
