COME ON BRIAN THE SQUAD NEEDS NEW RECRUITS.

Mon Sep 14, 2026 5:43 pm

Brian has had an opportunity to lay the blame where it belongs but if he is going to battle on with no new recruits then it will be on his head.

All I will say is it’s sadly not his final call, that’s all I can say.

He says he did not get the players he wanted but did not say WHY?

I am totally baffled by the goings on down there at the moment ,

No it doesn't have to be on his head. What is this narrative

Hes not going to speak out against the board , hes on a nice long well paid contract why would he risk it all when he has a young family to take care of

The fact is there are people on the board who care more about whats best for them and their position than they do for cardiff city

Re: COME ON BRIAN THE SQUAD NEEDS NEW RECRUITS.

No body is saying just sign anyone but in this world of football from all parts of the globe we cannot find anyone that fits is a load of b.ll.cks

Re: COME ON BRIAN THE SQUAD NEEDS NEW RECRUITS.

Mon Sep 14, 2026 6:11 pm

The club could just come out and say sorry we can’t afford any new players, why the cloak and dagger…

You are well aware the board are full of shit so why are you trying to nail the manager on this?

I have backed the manager when others have'nt and 100% blamed the board but he is shooting himself in the foot with these statements

You’re right! Apart from being a boss who could argue with himself, who would do such a thing and why would they put their job (and potential compensation) in jeopardy? :?

Some of the comments on the matter are pretty unthinking!

At no point did he say we'd be getting free agents in, he simply said we monitor everyone. Journalists ask questions (which most of the time you don't see what the question even was) and he gives answers. So because Glen Williams wants to fill his day writing a "best free agents for Cardiff" that gets taken as a promise by the manager. We have what we have because the board won't pay out. Do you really want the manager to come out and rip Tan a new one because you know that means he'll be gone very shortly after that, he's got to tow the line and so would everyone else in his position.

There are those who have pretty much said that!

Those who focussed on the lack of signings from (pretty much) day one of the transfer window, were persistent in their assertions that any signings were better than none!

Ned got absolutely hammered for his ‘only if they improve the squad’ views l, and I took a bit for agreeing with him on occasion

BBM is never going speak out against his employers whilst still employed. That would be suicidal for his job and his career on an industrial scale. Any sensible person with a ‘boss’ would say the same!

BBM 100% had a list of players he wanted to sign and I believe he was let down, so the real questions revolve around why most (not all) failed to come off?

I’m confident that Ken Choo (Vincent Tan’s middle man) was heavily involved, and that should be the focus of this Forum, and not the constant ‘pops’ at BBM, his methodologies, his tactics, or the spirit of his squad

Anyone who watches the Bluebirds can surely see the commitment and effort they are all putting in? :ayatollah:

Only taking a guess here but I reckon Emperor Tan and his sidekicks won't give him any more money ;)

Monty thats been my argument for ages out of the hundreds of freebies around Europe ect he cant find 2 to use? I've said the problem is down to him and yet again he re literates the point today? Yes may need approval from tan but does anyone actually think Tan will want to risk relegation for sake of couple of millions when the cost of relegation is far higher?

His statements have followed the same lines since before season started so think people have the right yo question his methodology when choosing players? As for blaming board thats great if we knew tan said "NO" to anymore than 2 new sighnings? If people believe that its their perogative but it doesn't fall in line with what they knew and bbm knew regarding how many players we needed.. so why would tan shoot himself in right foot when already shot himself in left one last season?
Makes absolutely no sense however you cut it.

The problem we now have is that if no more players come in BBM will have to keep playing the same players week after week. If by some miracle we had no injuries for the next 3 months (wont happen) then quite a few players will be burnt out come January.

Allan, not answering for Monty here, just that BBM simply won’t hire players he doesn’t see as fitting the profile, and he’s possibly going against both Tan and Choo on this one, as they are joined at the hip regarding decision-making. We certainly know they have ‘forced’ players on coaches/managers before now!

I’m with you that Tan won’t want relegation again, so another question is ‘what will he (Tan) do about it that actually helps the situation?

You don't need any great stat analysis to agree this is what will happen - and probably already is.

We have 11 starters (as per the Bolton game) 2 subs maybe worthy of the name (Ashford and Robbo) and 3 sub-par subs (Turnbull, Scanlon and Kpakio) who aren't.

16 players, three quarters of whom should be nowhere near a Championship matchday squad.

We are cooked. 7 games in.

I see you point about the relegation risk, but it made no sense to let Riza keep his job for all those months when everyone could see what was coming the last time we were here. You can't operate under the assumption that Tan is looking at this from a normal point of view, he's a man who knows nothing about football and the only two people that have his ear also know nothing about football. Freebies aren't free you have to pay them and if they have any sort of name value probably quite a chunk. If you want to know what Tan thinks listen to Choos last statement "promoting within our own ranks" that's not opening the war chest

All this should have had been sorted out from when that transfer window opened to close -
No One - Manager / Owner / Choo or Dalman have come out with what was the plan for this season -
Apart from " We have targets " and cut backs ??? When more money will be coming in with TV coverage

Fair enough BBM won't just sign anyone and players have got to fit a certain profile (and that's a good thing). But we have 2 keepers on the bench plus a 15 and 16 year old. There is no way any of them guys fit his profile either so what is BBM playing at?

4 days ago with the BBC he stated that his recruitment department are monitoring everything but players in the free market have options all over the world (so he basically made out as though its difficult to get these players in - players that have been out of work since June). Now today he's saying they ain't gonna panic and just sign anyone???

Granted journalists can misconstrue stuff but that's all us fans have to go off...so surely you can understand our frustration. If you listen to BBM you literally don't know whether you're coming or going. Mixed messages almost daily.

We are crying out for a bit of help, and the thread Annis started today about how we've only been winless after 7 games just 5 times in our history and on 4 of those occasions we went down. Its not good reading at all is it? And BBM isn't helping things.

Ryan
I am happy with the manager our style of play but as I said in the opening post mixed messages with these statements ,I would rather he say nothing rather than keep changing your statements.

Players coming then there not, we are looking then its not our priority, and I agree and was and i was waiting for someone to mention ,are you happier to go with 2 keepers on the bench play a 15 year old at the back rather than bring in something better is a very strange message.

And the constant we are not going to bring in just anyone we have just had motonda and smallbone freebies mentioned,
but there are players from all over the world who are free from Europe far east Africa South America surely there is someone who fits in this team style and cost.

I just don' t get there is know one that works better than a 15 year old or 2 keepers.

Unfortunately Nissan, I can't disagree with a word you have said. Yes - Tan has and continues keeping us afloat financially but his own short sighted attitude has cost us that long term Premiership position he and we needed and now we will never do more than flirt between League 1 and the Championship under his ownership. After all the time he has been here I don't really know whether we are better or worse off now as a club. I just wish he would sell up and allow a different perspective to take over the reins of our beloved club. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

All about backing, people think bbm didn't want 3 or 4 better players he llined up for the whoopers above to sort out which didn't happen because of him. Some actual believe that yet he was in the media saying he's after a few. He even comes out and said they didn't happen for one reason or another, so why didn't it happen...backing from above there is no other way around it players play for money irrelevant of the club these days same as any line of work :ayatollah:

Just like Leicester fans wouldn't be complaining if they finished top instead of getting relegated last season

But unfortunately neither of us finished top so don't get the point of your comment

You mention kanga but forget players like Bamba and Hoilett who we signed in October on a free and they both were key players for us and helped get us promoted to the prem
