I know this might sound a bit fluffy, but it looks likely that BBM will start Salech on Saturday.
I think we’ve all got short memories when it comes to how Salech reacted when we were relegated. He was one of the first to come out and say he wanted to stay, fight and help get us back up.
Yet now, and I include myself in this, we’re not necessarily showing him that same fight and support when he’s going through a tough spell.
So imagine the impact we could have on Saturday.
When he’s warming up by the Canton, give him his “scoring all the time” song.
When the teams come out, sing his name.
When we kick off, sing it again.
Yes, he’s struggling at the moment, but tough spells pass. He might not turn out to be quite the level of player we initially thought, but he’s still relatively young, and there’s plenty of time for him to develop.
What I do know is that we desperately need a confident Salech right now and we, as a fanbase, can play a part in giving him that confidence.
He showed he was willing to fight for us when things were at their lowest. Maybe now it’s our turn to show a bit of fight for him.
Let’s get behind him on Saturday.
